THE DEAD DAISIES - HELLFEST 2017
REPORTER: YOU WERE IN CUBA ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO DID YOU ENJOY IT WILL YOU COME BACK TO CUBA ANYTIME SOON?
MARCO – “It was a dream come true because Cuba is a place we have always wanted to go to and to have the opportunity to go and play music for the local people was amazing we left with the glass full we realised more than ever that music makes a big difference and coming to Hellfest has been nothing but a great experience. When we return to Cuba whenever possible, I think we are trying to make arrangements to get there.”
DAVID – “It was the experience of a lifetime for me, It was outstanding, the people, It was Incredible, It just shows you what a bridge music can be between people. “
JOHN – “Yes I had a great time as well, I thought the people were amazing, the fans were insane. I was very surprised how many Guns and Roses shirts and Iron Maiden shirts we saw. The fans, food and island (Cuba) were amazing and you had great drinks as well. The rum forget It, awesome.
REPORTER- MARCO YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH SEVERAL BANDS SUCH AS WHITE SNAKE, JERRY LUIS, THIN LIZZY DID YOU GET SUGGESTIONS TO PLAY WITH THESE BANDS?
MARCO – “I was very honoured to get a call to play with bands like that, I happen to live In LA (Los Angeles) and part of It was that I happen to be at the right place at the right time there are a lot of players in LA your meeting the right people and the right circles of people and the opportunity comes and you try to be professional, you show up on time you prepare yourself you do your homework you leave your card and people call you again. great expiring but I got to say the combination of my career this band right here Is the top of the line, I mean playing with these guys right here with Doug, John, Brian and David It’s for me like a dream come true If I could put a band together this Is the band, so here I am In the middle of It and we are having a blast.
YOU PLAY A COUPLE OF COVERS IN YOUR SET, AS A BAND YOU HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF ALBUMS WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO STOP DOING COVERS AND JUST DO A DEAD DAISIES SET?
JOHN – “Honestly the reason why we do It Is It’s not for a lack of material we have 4 records and a EP we enjoy doing covers we all grew up with a lot of classic rock bands from the 70s and If you go and look at a lot of those bands like Led Zeppelin, Humble Pie, Aerosmith a lot of them did cover songs. The Stones, The Beatles, so this Is a way of introducing our audience to bands we grew up listening to a tip of the hat so we are having fun that’s It no rhyme or reason that’s why we do It.”
DOUG YOU HAVE BEEN DOING QUITE A LOT OF PROJECTS OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS AND I WOLD LIKE TO KNOW IF NOW WITH THE DEAD DAISES YOU PLAY MUSIC IN A MORE ORGANIC WAY AND IF YOU FIT WELL WITH THIS BAND?
DOUG – “As Marco said, this Is a really great band and we are all friends obviously, I worked with Brian and Marco In Whitesnake john and I have known each other science we were kids In school we didn’t ever make music together but we have been friends I have flowed his career and always loved his singing and David and I completely hit It off It feels great I was very decited to white snake for a long time and after stepping away and clearing my head this Is the perfect thing for me to be doing
IF YOU COULD INVITE SOMEONE TO PLAY ON THE STAGE WITH YOU WHO WOULD IT BE?
DOUG – “Jimmy Page”
BRIAN - Well If Doug said jimmy page. I’m going to say Steven Tyler
JOHN – “I’m going to go with Paul McCartney”
DAVID – “I’m just happy to stick with these guys, this Is enough for me.”
MARCO – “Paul McCartney would definitely be on top, and Tyler and John Paul Jones, I would just stand next to him and watch him play. There are so many choices, that’s a hard answer.”
DOUG YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH DAVID COVERDALE ONE OF THE BEST VOCALIST OF ALL TIME, IS THERE ANYONE ELSE YOU WOULD WANT TO PLAY WITH?
DOUG – “II don’t really think about It but there are a lot If great musicians that are out there playing different kinds of music out there Its really cool to see people like Lady Gaga doing her thing with Metallica but I have been very lucky regarding singers and I love working with John and Brian says Steven Tyler Isn’t too shabby either.”
