Check out Twinmusix chat with Brett Scallions from Fuel about their Australian tour

What can fans expect from your Australian tour ?

The 20th anniversary of the sunburn album. Now is the time to take that record and put it on and listen to it and refreshing yourself on the album. We are going to play it from top to bottom the was it is on the album and then we will do a few extra songs later in the set.

Are you excited to play New Zealand for the first time?

Yeh you know I've been to New Zealand a couple of times but never did a shoe there all the other times were doing press tours.

What's your favorite tour moment with your fans?

The fans tell me such awesome storiesabout what the music means to them. There's so many fun moment's out there.

What's your favorite song to play on tour?

There's a record I put out called puppet string. I have allot of fun playing those songs. And from the sunburn album I don't know they all come around to be a favorite from time to time. Just depends there's a few songs from the sunburn album I haven't played in year's. I'm looking forward to playing a few songs like Hide away and Ozone. I haven't played in year's so excited to bust those out again.

What guitars and rigs/peddles do you use?

Here in the states I use a company called diaomd and use a stereo guitar rigg. So I have two heads and two cabinets running stereo. I also have a combo amp and I run that through a about box. I plug that in so I always have a clean channel sound coming out of that which is really cool. When I tour Australia I'll be on other gear unfortunately. I play Les Paul's and Fender that's what I've always loved.

What bands inspired your band?

I grew up in the 70s listening to Beatles Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. I guess what was a big influence on the band was Seattle broke in the early 90s which is a big thing. We persuaded music which eventually became alternative music. It became a overflow of what Seattle had been doing. But like I said I grew up with the Beatles and Elton John.

If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would it be which song and in your style or there's?

It's always nice to see someone play one of your songs. But if someone is going to do it I would want them to really change it up. Do a different take. Make a jazz version out of it I don't know.

What was you experience like playing with Ray and Robbie from the doors?

I played with those guys for a few years playing the doors catalog it was amazing. Robbie and I messed around with a couple of times.

Do you prefer playing bigger or smaller Venus?

It really depends festivalsare 20 to 50 thousand people. And we headline shows that can be 5 to 10 thousand people or it could be a internment 1000 people just depends on where we are.

After all the members left what made you decide to keep your band still going?

The other guys had things that they were doing with their lives. I was happy for them for that. I was looking to do the duel again. I decided to do a fresh thing and have some fun with it. I had a bunch of other people I was playing with and I picked from them. I was just looking for fun things to do.

Are you going to release a new album?

We brought out puppet strings a few years ago and that is pretty good. I'm working on new material and would like to put a few new songs out next year. And Mabry another record later in the year.

How did you come up with your band name?

We threw a bunch of names in a hat and that name came out
