Twinmusix chat with Scott Russo from Unwritten law About There Australian Tour And More

What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

We will play the Black record in it's entirety from front to back, and then we will come out and play some new music.

What stage equipment do you use?

I use Orange amplifiers and Fender guitars, Chris uses a bunch of other different guitars.

I read in Perth that you got cut off from playing a festival, can you tell us more about that?

We were playing this festival where everyone got robbed on! The whole tour they kept on saying we should play last, and we said sure we will play last. We didn't know the laws in Australia, none of us did, there is a 12 p.m. noise curfew on Sundays in Perth Western Australia, and we said we have done so many shows let's just do the way it's been advertised on the internet as us closing. So we said fine we'll play last we don't mind, the whole festival was behind schedule by an hour and we didn't get on stage till 11:35. We performed 4 songs and then they said to us we were only allowed to play one more song, and we said that's crazy we haven't even got to the good stuff yet, so they start feeding back the PA. We had no idea what was going on and we keep playing through it cause we assume it was a technical difficulty and then they shut off the PA. At this point we were in the middle of Up All Night, and by this point we were pissed off because we had no idea what was going on, so we had no pa no vocals and then they just cut the power to the stage it was just wade playing drums and the crowd was so hot that they just kept singing every word and got into it.

Can you tell us a story about touring?

When the food fight happened at Manly Beach, at a festival with 10 thousand people they ran out of food at the festival so people started ripping up the grass and throwing it at each other, it stuffed the stage up and ruined the rugby field. Then a stage organiser came up to us and said that there were guitarist off their face on stage and the guitarist took off his guitar and beat the shit out of that guy, and then we were asked to leave the tour.

If you could have any band play one of your songs, which band would it be and in your style or there's?

 The Growlers play Cailin

You got truck contracted to play Yellowstone National Park by mistake how did that happen?

We had a manager called Bill Silver, and the other band had a manager called John Silver, they contacted our management saying "Hey we have this new TV series coming out and would love to use your band". Then they wrote the contract and said "Oh we can't wait to have your band play" and he (our manager) said "No that's not my band, my bands Unwritten Law". Then they checked out our band and said "Oh well, Unwritten Law is great, we'll just use you guys instead". This took us a couple of days to do at a location in Yellowstone National Park, and in doing this we became really good friends with the producers of the show. We talked to them and said we should put it out as a DVD / record, they said that's a great idea and that's what we did, that became one of our biggest selling records.

Are you writing  any new albums at the moment?

We are, we are have written about 7 of our songs and another 5 on the way, it should be recorded by January and be out by mid 2018.

Do you have anything else to announce to your fans?

We look forward to being there in February.
