The Spirit is a melodic death metal band that was formed in Saarbrücken in 2015 . The band consists of MT on vocals/guitars, AK on guitars, AT on bass and MS on drums. 

 

Their previously self-released "Sounds From The Vortex" has already proved successful and there seven is now being re-released to a wider audience through Nuclear Blast. In October and November, the band are heading on a European tour with their labels HYPOCRISY and KATALYSM. tracks

 

Twinmusix talk to MT from The Spirit about their new Album and more.

TM - How have fans responded to your new album Sounds From The Vortex ?

MT - They have responded very well, we have got very good reviews so far.
 

TM - What was your writing and recording process for your new album Sounds From The Vortex ?

MT - The songwriting took place in 2016, for almost the whole year I wrote the song at home and when I finished I send it to the drummer without the drum backing.  He comes up with the drums and the rest of the band adds their bits.

TM - How did you come up with your album cover and who designed it?

MT - We had two album covers, the first album cover was designed by Rebecca, then for the re-release we decided to do a new album cover with a Romanian artist the artwork is related to the title of the album.
 

TM - If you could have any band play one of your song's which band would it be which song would it be and would it be in your style or their Style?

MT - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard doing one of our songs.
 

TM - You played at Summer Breeze this year what was your favourite memory from this?

MT - When we came on stage and we had lots of people there, it was night time the fact that we could get so many people there at that time was really good. 
 

TM - How did you get income to get signed by Nuclear Blast?

MT - We released the album last year by ourselves and funded it by ourselves because we couldn't find a label that wanted to fund the album. We didn't send an application to Nuclear Blast because we thought they were out of our League but after we released the album they got in contact with us and told us they liked it a lot and we signed with them. 

 

 

TM- That is Awesome, congratulations on getting signed with them.

 

MT- Thanks, they are such an Amazing team of people to work with,  we love it.

 

TM - What is your favourite memory of watching a different band perform live?

MT - We played at party san festival in Germany and we arrived one day early and Emperor was the headliner of the festival, Emperor was amazing I was blown away by their performance.

TM- That's sick, they are definitely amazing to watch live! I got to watch them at Hellfest last year and as they are one of my favourite bands it was the best experience they see them live. 

 

TM - If you could choose one song to describe a biography of your band what would it be?

MT - I don't know, just pick one and that would be it.
