THE SMYTHS REVIEW
The Smyths played at the Metro Theater on Saturday night to a sold out crowd. As you walked through the venue fans had brought flowers and the excitement was shown on everyone's faces and this time The Smyths were playing songs off their compilation album " The Very Best Of The Smyths" and the atmosphere was fun and energetic.
Billy Blagg opened the night and brought the power of folk, punk, and rock to the stage. He opened the night with political or romantic themes in his lyrics. The upbeat songs filled the venue with a fun atmosphere and he got the crowd pumped for The Smyths.

The Smyths came out on stage and the fans eagerly ran to the dance floor to find their spots, as the band kicked off their set with "The Headmaster Ritual, William, It Was Really Nothing and What Difference Does It Make?" and the blast from the past sent us into overdrive and the music ran through our veins.
The Smyths continued with "These Things Take Time, Suedehead and The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" and the fans were singing every word back to the Smyths as they were jiving along to the music.
As The Smyths handed out flowers to the fans, it melted their hearts with passion and the high energy exuded through the venue and everyone was hooked for more. Next up was "Cemetry Gates, I Know It's Over and The Last of the Famous International Playboys" and the drumbeats made you move your feet and the groovy bass lines hopped up the fans and put a powerful beat in the crowd's step as "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" and Panic" continued playing. When the Smyths sang the Song "coma" the Smyths started saying yeh and the crowd sang yeh back.

The set continued with the hits you know and love including "Ask, Shoplifters of the World Unite, There Is a Light That Never Goes Out and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" and the powerful and popping guitar riffs and Rocking Vocals brought electricity to the venue and they turned it up to eleven as they The Smyths continued with "This Charming Man" and "Bigmouth Strikes Again".
The night was a nostalgia trip from the first note as The Smyths finished their set with "Hand in Glove, That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore and How Soon Is Now?" and it left you wanting the night never to end but excited for the next time The Smyths come to Australia.
