Twinmusix interview with wattie from The Exploited

TM - Hi, this is Elizabeth from Twinmusix we are here with Wattie from The Exploited. Thank You for having this interview with us today, we really appreciate. What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

WE - They can't expect anything, but just know they are going to have a great time, they are going to see one of the best punk bands in the world.

TM - What can fans expect from your setlist?

WE - Quite a lot of songs probably 22 or 24 that should take us about 60 or 70 minutes. Our songs are quite fast and the people who are coming that know The Exploited know exactly what they are getting. We are going to have a good night, it is going to be loud, fast and it's going to be a great night.

TM - Are you working on any new music?

WE - I have about 14 new songs which I need to write lyrics to. We have been writing songs for the last 20 years and we have written a hundred of them. We have kept about 14 really good songs and once we get a new drummer we will start rehearsing my brother f***** off. We got a stand in drummer from Holland, that is meant to come to Australia in February but we had to postponent because of health problems. We postponed it to November, so we have a stand-in drama for this whole year and after we come back from Australia we go to Europe and then the drummer will leave and we will replace him.

TM - Do you have any festivals coming up next year

WE- We have Exit Festival in Hungry, which is a really good festival. Then we have Waken in Germany. We have America and Canada lined up. We have done quite a few festivals this year but I prefer to play pubs than festivals. Festivals are good for your ego, you play in front of 20,000 or 50,000 people, for me it is too far away. When you play pubs you can see people's eyes and you can have a chat, for me pub gigs are better than the big festival.

TM - what's your favourite memory from ever playing a pub gig?

WE - Probably our first gig that we ever did in 78. We couldn't get a gig so we played our first gig at the YMCA and we got told we would get five pounds for playing the gig. We got told if it goes okay we will have you back and we were super excited and someone cut the microphone wires and we never got asked back that was it.

There was another time where we played a gig in San Francisco and we had 300 people on these stage and the stage collapsed. A couple of people got trampled on that was pretty funny.

TM - What is your favourite band you have seen live?

WE - The best concert I have ever been to was AC/DC, it was unbelievable. I was a kid, I saw them in a 3,000 people venue and Angus was playing the guitar and totally sweating. It made a lasting impression and I will never forget it and everyone was screaming Angus Angus.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be, what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?

WE - Probably the Sex Pistols or Metallica because I know they could play it they would play Sex and Violence. Slayer played one of our songs it's a compliment when people cover your song.

TM -Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

WE - Come out to our gig and have a good time. This will probably be the last time you have to see us in Australia. I don't know if we will be back, I'm not sure how long the band still has. If you want to see us,  you might want to come this time f*** covid f*** my health, we will be to hear this time. I saw you will have a good night.

TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we really appreciate it.
