THE CULT REVIEW

Last night we got to watch the English rock band, The Cult play a sold out show at the Enmore Theatre and the band delivered a ton of energy while the fans rocked out.

Mayatrix & The Psychics (fka MOANA) is the musical vehicle of Māori-Australian artist Moana Mayatrix in collaboration with Lochlan Hoffmann on drums, Willow Fearns on guitar and Yann Visaac on bass and they killed it last night.

As the Mayatrix & The Psychics a Trip-hop-psych-rock band kicked off their set with "Mortal And Divine, The Cultess and Mess Princess", the Electric vocals and down-tempo Guitar riffs filled the room and we couldn't wait to hear the next tracks. They continued with "Sister Winter, E LIX A and Temple" and the Upbeat Drums and atmospheric Bass lines continued and Moana was dancing around the stage and giving us her all. Next up was "Smoke and Vader" and these tracks kept our feet moving and the Infectious Grooves Grabbed us in and wrapped us up in a rocking set. Mayatrix & The Psychics got us ready for The Cult and elevated the mood for the rest of the night and got the crowd moving and riled up for the main act.

The Cult consists of Ian Astbury on Lead Vocals and Percussion, Billy Duffy on Lead Guitar, John Tempesta on Drums and Charlie Jones on Bass guitar and they played an epic show at the Enmore Theatre last night. As we were eagerly waiting for the cult to come on stage the crew lit incense and saged the stage.

As The Cult kicked off their set with "In the Clouds" and "Rise" they performed like a well-oiled machine and performed two rock filled hits that pulled you in from the first note. They delivered crisp clear vocals, smokey guitar riffs and galloping drum beats. The Cult continued with "Wild Flower, Star and The Witch" and Ian Astbury brought his A game with his vocals that brought emotion and pure power to the venue. As the raw sound of instruments filled our souls with rock and the songs filled our minds with perfectly constructed iron-clad riffs we were excited to hear what was up next.

As the glorious fiery guitar riffs and Trail Blazing hits continued we got to rock out to "Mirror, War (The Process) and Ressurection Joe" and the band's incredibly unique stage presence brought swagger and energy. As the band walked off stage, Ian and Billy stayed on stage to play a Acoustic song "Edie (Ciao Baby)" and the crowd swayed along.

The cult continued the night with "Sweet Soul Sister, Lucifer and Fire Woman" and they cranked it up to 11 with their fantastic melodies. The Cult showed us how dynamic their vocal ranges were with all of the lows, mids, and highs that the band could reach. Ian's wife Aimee Nash came out and played the tambourine in their hit song "Rain" and it was amazing to see an icon play with The Cult.

As the fully charged drum frenzy and tempos continued with "Spiritwalker" and "Love Removal Machine" the expressive sing along bangers and choruses made us dance and the fun and engaging raw energy hyped up the crowd.

The cult walked off stage and the crowd waited in anticipation for more songs. As they walked back on stage the fans were eager for more epic hits and we got to watch "Brother Wolf, Sister Moon and She Sells Sanctuary". The Cult pulled out all the stops with catchy rhythms and classic beats and at the end of the night Ian Threw his tambourine up to a fan on the top balcony, where the lucky fan eagerly caught it.

The Cult treated our ears to powerful vocals and it took the fans along for a powerful ride through their history of music.
