THE BUZZ LOVERS REVIEW
The Buzz Lovers played at The Metro last night, and you could feel the excitement in the air. Everyone was ecstatic to see them live, and after seeing them, it’s easy to understand why people call them the best Nirvana tribute in the universe.
Before The Buzz Lovers hit the stage, Rage of Empires kicked the night off with a heavy, energetic set that got the crowd moving straight away and they played an Epic set of Rage Against The Machine songs. Their guitars sounded huge, as their riffs hit the crowd with headbanging beats and we got to rock out to songs including Bomb Track, Bulls On Parade and Killing In The Name. The drums hit hard, and kept a solid beat that made us groove, and the vocals had that raw live energy that made the whole room light up. The energy Rage Of Empires brought was insane. By the end of their set, the crowd was fully warmed up and ready for the main event.

The Buzz Lovers walked on stage, and the place erupted. From the first notes of "Breed" it felt like you had stepped back into the 90s. AS João Beato hit the stage his vocals had that gritty Kurt Cobain style, and the guitar tone was spot on, it was loud, fuzzy and full of attitude. Every riff during songs like "Come As You Are and Drain You" had the whole crowd singing along at the top of their lungs, and everyone was having fun.
Nuno Pereira bass sounded thick and powerful all night, as they kicked into "Lithium and Something In the Way" and Paulo Antunes drums kept everything tight and explosive. You could feel every kick drum through the floor, and every cymbal crash added to the chaos in the best possible way.
The Buzz Lovers captured the energy and emotion that made Nirvana so special in the first place. One of the best moments of the night was hearing the entire crowd scream along to "Territorial Pissings and You Know You’re Right" It was one of those gigs where everyone around you suddenly felt like a friend because the fans knew every word. As The band continued to play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" punk-rock cheerleaders wearing shirts with anarchy symbols came out and rocked the stage with their epic moves.
