SUICIDE SILENCE INTERVIEW
Twinmusix got to speak to Mark Heylmun the Guitarist from Suicide silence about there upcoming album and more.
TM - What can fans expect from your new album Become The Hunter?
MH - Fans can expect a metal and moshing album that you can rock out to In your car. This metal album is fun and really dark and we put a lot into it so I think people are really going to dig It.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for Become The Hunter?
MH - We started with a couple of songs that I had started by myself and we had a couple of songs that the band had been working on without me because I had some family stuff going. I was away from the band for 8 months and they had a bunch of stuff and I had a bunch of stuff we put it together in visions. We meet up four or five times a week at our recording studio and at the end of every day we made sure we had recorded. We were just putting down idea after idea until we narrowed it down into what we wanted the record to be.
TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for Become The Hunter and what was the meaning behind it?
MH - The album cover was done by a man called Adrian Baxter. The meaning behind it is the presence of his energy that Society puts into everyone's Heads and it's an extreme concept for everyone is pushed into these heavy thoughts. It shows how extreme they are. It could be suicidal, homicidal or violence. Everyone has to suppress these feelings and all this pressure builds up because of the media. This corruption and war and order is disgusting s**t. The cover is the Reaper holding a tarot card which is a calling card it's a subliminal message that is all around the world and the cover embodies record.
TM - What was it like working with Steve on your new album Become The Hunter?
MH - We have worked with him 2 times before and this is our third at this point. He is like the sixth member of the band and we all work together. This time around we were really prepared and had already recorded the songs before we even meet up. He said let's just make this music sound as good as we possible. It was great to be back with him and he got great takes out of us so we were doing our best.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be what song would it be and in your style or their style?
MH - Suffocation, we are a big fan of them and they are a big influence of ours.
TM - What is your favorite memory of watching someone else peform live?
MH - I saw Black Sabbath and I was 14 years old with my dad but Sabbath is one of the reasons I started playing guitar. I saw this massive rock show and if it wasn't for that show I probably wouldn't be doing this.
TM - If you could collaborate with any band who would it be and why?
MH - Joe from Gojira, I think of him and his brother have been pushing death metal into a direction that is extremely necessary. It is extremely spiritual and really earthy and I think that's really necessary for death metal. It requires you to think, it would be awesome to work on somthing with him.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
MH - We definitely wrote this album for our fans and hope everyone gives it a listen.
TM - Thank You for this interview today, we really appreciate it and we hope you come to Australia sometime soon.
