Suffocation Interview

TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix we are here with Ricky from Suffocation. Thank You for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

RY- Thank You, I appreciate it.

TM - What can fans expect from your new album Hymns From the Apocrypha?

RY - we're hoping to keep it as close to our style as possible but maybe more brutal. We are excited for everybody to hear it.

TM - What was your writing and recording process for Hymns From the Apocrypha?

RY - We did a lot of our stuff over Zoom. I live in California and they live in New York and they got together a lot and wrote a lot of the music.

TM - Did you fly out to New York to record?

RY - I flew out to New York to record but I also have my own recording studio. I do all the pre-production and I just give me the songs and I put stuff over it.

TM - How did you come up with your album cover and what's the meaning behind it?

RY - The album cover is based on the concept of the album and it is basically the world that these entities live in and travel in these portals in and out from our dimension. It is based around the world they live in giannis did the album cover.

TM - How did you come up with the Video for Searaphim Enslavement?

RY - We came up with the concept where we took images of the world, where we believed these entities are living in. Tom came up with this crazy world.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would it be, which song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?

RY - I would want Post Malone to do a song in his style. I think Hymns From the Apocrypha.

TM - You played a lot of festivals this year such as Hellfest and brutal assault. what is your favourite memory from these festivals?

RY - I love all the festivals, it is just a good time. Your friends and family are there. There are so many good memories, I can't pick one.

TM - Are you coming to Australia anytime soon?

RY - Yeah, we just filled out the paperwork the other day. We are coming sometime next year.

TM - Thats so cool, are we allowed to release that?

RY - Yeah, they didn't say not to.

TM - What was the first band you ever saw live?

RY - I was 5 years old so I don't really remember many stories. It was a KISS concert I went to with my family.

TM - Did they influence you to play an instrument?

RY - My dad played guitar, so that was the first instrument I learnt. Then I went to the bass guitar then the drums and now I'm singing.

TM - What is your favourite band you have ever seen live, can you tell us a story?

RY - It could have been when Michael Jackson caught his hair on fire in the Pepsi commercial.

TM - What exactly happened?

RY - A firework got set off and caught his hair on fire.

TM - That's crazy, I'm glad everyone was ok.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

RY - Go and check out the new suffocation. We believe it's sick and we hope you do too.

TM - Thank You for having this interview with us today, we really appreciate it. Hope you have a good day.

RY - Thank You, hope you have a good day too.
