DOPE, WEDNESDAY 13 AND STATIC-X REVIEW
A tripple header that could kill! Fuck what a fantastic line up for a gig at the Metro Theatre on Saturday night! We got to watch Dope, Wednesday 13 and Static-X play to a sold out venue on one bill and I don't think words do this show justice on how amazing it was. Not only was it a fantastic lineup, but it was also a tribute to Wayne Static who tragically passed away in 2014.
Dope was up first and I was highly intrigued through the band’s set. A roar went up from the crowd as the band came on stage. Dope were on point as they smashed through their songs and they performed with excellent energy and had great interaction with their fans. We got to watch Dope play a wide selection of songs including "Blood Money, Die Motherfucker Die, Burn and their cover of You Spin Me Round" and they got the crowd warmed up for the next two sets. Dope could of easily taken the headline spot for the night.
The master of spooks, Wednesday 13 were up next. As we delved into their set we got a full show of theatrics with amazing costumes. Wednesday 13 delivered us hit after hit from his extensive and varied catalogue of creepy songs. We got to listen to songs including "Hail Ming, Serpent Society, What The Night Brings and Bad Things. As we watched the set we saw a full mosh pit, head banging and fist pumping action.
The frantic pace of the evening wasn't about to slow down as the headliner Static-X were up next. We were graced with songs including "Bled For Days, Bled For Days, Get To The Gone, Destroy All and Push It. The songs left a new level of insanity as they smashed through their set. Static-X delivered exhilarating barrage of slamming industrial riffs, pulsating techno beats and sharp, frenzied howls as we moshed through the set. Static-X paid tribute to Wayne throughout the set and we made a whole bunch of noise for him.
As our night came to a close, no one wanted to leave the venue and the metal was running through our veins. What an amazing tripple header that graced our shores. If you haven't bought tickets to their other Aussie shows, go and buy them now I promise you won't be disappointed and if you have bought tickets or are about to grab some, have a fantastic night and rock on!
