TM - Hi this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with Max Cavalera from soulfly, thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
MC - Thank you.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
MC - We are excited to come back to Australia for our shows. We think it is going to be a cool start to the year. We are really excited to bring "soulfly and Nailbomb" together and it is a unique thing. I think that "Nailbomb's" album "Point Blank" is a culture album and is a cult album. People love it and the album has been around for more than thirty years. I am excited to bring it back to life on stage. We did it in summer in Europe and it was fantastic. We had a great response on festivals.
Soulfly is coming in hot with the new album "Chama" and we will also be playing all the hits that people love.
We are also excited to play "Froth and Fury Festival" I think it will be great. I love Australia and I think they love "Max cavalera". It is going to be one hell of a time and we will bring the metal.
TM - We are excited to have you here.
TM - What can fans expect from your Soulfly Setlist?

MC - You can expect a big mix of our music with some tribal jams and some of our newer songs. We have already played some of our new songs live and I think fans really enjoy it. We are fired up and I think our album "Chama" reignited a flame of what the original soulfly is all about. I haven't written the setlist yet, so it will be fun to show up and hear what we choose to play live.
TM - How did fans respond to your new album "Chama"?
MC - I think they responded well. We did a little Tour on the West Coast of America and I hope they loved the record. I think it is really close to the old "Soulfly" music.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for "Chama"?
MC - We did the writing and recording process in a couple of phases. First I wrote everything at home. Then I jammed with "Zyon Cavalera" in our jam room, and it was cool because it reminded me of the early days when me and "Iggor Cavalera" would go out and jam. We prepared the material here and then we went to the studio and we started recording. We had "Mike DeLeon" come up for a couple of days to play on "No Pain = No Power". We sent some songs out to some guests like Todd Jones from the band Nails and Gabriel Franco from the band Unto Others. Michael Amott from Arch Enemy played lead guitar on the song Ghenna. It was exciting and fun because I got to work with my family for the first time. I had my kids help me on my recording sessions and they were helping me with lyrics, it was great having both of them In the studio.
TM - Who designed your album cover for "Chama" and how did you come up with the idea?
MC - It is a picture of a Apache crown dancer from Arizona. They are a tribe here and I am friends with all of them. My whole family was blessed by them a couple of years ago and we kept in touch with them. They took that picture and we found it and when I saw it I knew that was going to be the album cover.
TM - Is there Anything else you want to say to your fans?
MC - I love Australia and I can't wait to be back it is the best way to start the year. There will be a lot of touring this year. We are also going to hit all the festivals in Europe and shows in America. The excitement of the fans is always at a super high level. I am so excited and cannot wait.
