Twinmusix got to speak to Pouyan Afkary and Chad Crawford from Scary Kids Scaring Kids about their upcoming tour and more.

TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix. We are here with Pouyan Afkary and Chad Crawford from Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

SC - Thank you for having us.

TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

SC - We are going to play our self-titled album front to back, and then we will be playing a bunch of additional music. I think this will be one of the biggest sets we have played. We keep adding songs, so there will be a good chunk of songs.

TM - What was your writing and recording process for your new song "State of Disrepair"?

SC - We have been writing and recording everything out of my studio. I live out in Phoenix, and Pouyan is out in LA, so Pouyan took some trips out here and I took some trips to the LA Area, and I just bring my little studio with me, and we are able to write anything, anywhere, at any time.

SC - This literally never happens but there was a hurricane warning for California at the time and we were writing one of the songs and that entire time I thought I should get back home, as I have kids, and I did not want to be stuck in the middle of the Desert in a hurricane. We made an awesome song, and it worked out, but Joshua Tree flooded, which was crazy.

TM - How did you come up with your Lyric video for "State of Disrepair"?

SC - Our manager put us in touch with someone who did the Escape The Fate videos, and we liked the style, so we worked with them to create the lyric video.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?

SC - One hundred per cent, Justin Timberlake play one of our songs, and he can do any of them.

SC - Sigur Rós cover one of our songs, and which one is tough because they are going to make it chill. I would like to see them play "Blood Runs Forever" It would be great.

One of my favourite shows in the world was seeing them at The Great Saltair in Salt Lake City, it was beautiful.

TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live as a kid, and can you tell us a story?

SC - I think the first line-up I saw was "No Doubt", "Cake" and "The Vandals", and they killed it live. I was in sixth Grade and it was cool.

TM - I love their song, Short Skirt, Long Jacket.

SC - I think it was before "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" came out.

SC - My first show was "Less Than Jake", and I think I was also in 6th grade. I was going to shows around the same time but I remember one of the coolest shows that we got to go was a show that Pouyan's dad took us to at the House of Blues in Hollywood and we saw "Reggie and the Full Effect", "Saves the Day" and "Dashboard Confessional", and it was an unbelievable show.

SC - It was my 16th birthday, and my dad was like we will just go there and they will have tickets but they did not. He ended up finding scalper tickets, and it worked out, and it was awesome.

TM - Did they influence you to play music?

SC - It was a big influence on us as a band and a huge influence on me to play keyboards because I loved what "Dashboard Confessional" were doing with their songs. On the other side, there were heavier hardcore, post hardcore and the more brutal thrash bands, and Underground HardCore shows that would be held in these small venues, which I went to every so often. We were listening to some of that heavier stuff while the band was forming.

TM - You are playing "Rockville", "Aftershock" and "Sonic Temple" are you excited?

SC - Absolutely, those are going to be some killer shows. There are so many great bands that we are going to get to play with, and people will get to see us who have not seen us before. A band that I was into as a kid was Marilyn Manson so I will be curious to see him live as I have never seen him live.

SC - Dude, are we playing with Korn, to be able to play a festival with them on the lineup is so cool.

TM - That is Awesome, Korn are great. Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

SC - Thanks for sticking with us for twenty-five years.

TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

SC - Thank you.
