RISE AGAINST REVIEW

If you want some outgoing craziness, this is the band for you. Last night we got to witness the tenacity and power in the lyrical content brought to the stage by Rise Against in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre. This punk rock band's music had messages mostly related to politics and it was great to see a band that stood up for what they believe in.

Beerwolf, from Sydney, was up first, sharing their style of Aussie punk rock. As Beerwolf kicked off their set with Grief Tourists and Dogs Way Home the hardcore infused riffs were like a kick in the balls and the solid vocals and killer lead guitar were loud and heavy which the audience responded to with enthusiasm. Beerwolf continued with Quick Fix, Death of the Party and Stiched Up and they proved why they were on stage and they got the crowd riled up for the main act.

As a beam of light came across the stage, Rise Against came out in full swing, as they opened the set with Prayer of the Refugee their supercharged riffs, heavy as fuck bass guitar lines and breakdowns lit a fire in the audience, and the fans started flying over the barriers. As Rise Against continued with Satellite and Audience of One, the mosh pit opened up and the fans were singing back every word as if it were their own personal song.

Their super lively set continued with Ready to Fall off their album The Sufferer and the Witness with the lead singer Tim's iconic and seemingly infinite voice creating a powerful, inspiring atmosphere that his fans feasted on for hours. The dominating drum beats filled the room, accompanied by the melodic guitars, rough vocals and infectious rhythm. Rise Against played two of their epic Acoustic songs Hero of War and Swing Life Away.

The crowd had brought their moshing shoes as Rise Against played Give It All there were no signs that they were slowing down. Every song that Rise Against was singing was an energetic rager that sticks in your mind, it made this set more memorable and satisfying.

As Rise Against finished their set with Savior they proved that they are one of the most important current day punk rock outfits, that aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
