PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT REVIEW
Peter Hook & The Light turned back the clock last night, and everyone celebrated some of the most influential music to come out of Manchester. The show was split into two parts, and the night opened with New Order's Get Ready in full for its 25th anniversary, before returning after an interval with a hit-filled set of Joy Division and New Order favourites. It was the perfect mix of nostalgia and live energy, and the crowd loved every minute of it.
The set Kicked off with "Crystal" and Get Ready was played from beginning to end, with highlights including "Turn My Way, Run Wild and Here To Stay" and the hits sounded as fresh as when they were first released. The songs had plenty of energy, and kept the feel that fans know and love.
Peter Hook brought an electric stage presence throughout the night. His unmistakable bass lines sat front and centre, and he carried every song with the style that helped define both Joy Division and New Order. His vocals suited the music perfectly, and it was clear how much these songs still mean to him every time he stepped up to the microphone.
The rest of the band never missed a beat. "Paul Kehoe" added bright, soaring guitar melodies that cut through the mix, while "Martin Rebelski" recreated the synth sounds that gave the songs their unmistakable atmosphere. Behind the kit, "Paul Kehoe" kept everything locked together with a solid powerful drum beat, and gave every song the drive it needed. While "Jack Bates" brought the bass lines thst made your feet tap and brought light to the venue.
After a short break, the mood shifted as the band returned for a set filled with Joy Division and New Order classics. The darker, more emotional Joy Division songs created a different atmosphere before the New Order hits lifted the room again. Tracks including "Dead Souls, Disorder and Decades" had the audience singing every word, and created an unforgettable atmosphere. The set plunged into the songs we know and love, including, "Sunrise, Bizarre Love Triangle and Round & Round" and it reminded everyone why Joy Division's music still connects with so many people.
As the night came to an end with their cult classic songs "Blue Monday and Love Will Tear Us Apart" it made the crowd sing and dance, and no one wanted the night to end. Peter Hook and his band made everyone have fun, and the smiles on everyone's faces lit up the room.
What stood out most was the great musicians playing the songs that have stood the test of time. Peter Hook & The Light gave fans exactly what they came for, and they celebrated Get Ready while taking everyone on a journey through two incredible sets. It was a night full of memories, great performances and timeless music that left the crowd wanting just one more song.
