ORIGIN
TM - Hi this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Jason Keyser from ORIGIN Thank you for having this interview with us today, We appreciate it.
JK - Thank You.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
JK - We will be playing Sydney Deathfest, and we are excited to be a part of it. We are playing with our friends EXHUMED, and they have been friends of ours for many years. It has been 12 years since we have been to Australia, and that equates to about 4 albums. We have young fans and fans that are parents with Adult Responsibilities, so we have had time to cultivate our albums and cultivate our setlist for you, and bring the most blistering performance possible. We are well prepared, well practised, and ready to destroy Australia.
TM - Can you give us any hints about your Setlist?
JK - We have our Raining Blood songs that have to play every time. We might sneak in a few that you wouldn't expect and we will play "Aftermath", of course that is like our "Raining Blood".
TM - What's your favourite song to play live?
JK - My responsibility as the front man is to cultivate the whole show and have the crowd moving and turning with every note we play. We try to cultivate the set list to maximise crowd participation, like "Redistribution of Filth".
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?
JK - I want Bolt Thrower to cover an ORIGIN song as slow as they do it and completely change it.
TM - Who is your favourite person who has covered one of your songs?
JK - When a fan covers our songs, it is awesome. I am very flattered that people would cover a song that I was part of creating.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live, and can you tell us a story?
JK - I was really lucky, I had two older brother's that were into heavy metal music when I was growing up. The first album I stole from my brother was HELL- O by GWAR, it was the first band that I ever got into. Then I got into black metal in the early 90's. I think GWAR was the first band that I ever saw live when they brought out Ragnarok, and Oderus is the one guy I never got to meet, and I looked up to him as a frontman and a performer, and he died before I got to meet him. His style and the Nuance of everything being satire and a joke and heavy at the same time was so amazing to me, it's an inspiration to me.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
JK - I am excited to be coming back to Australia. If you saw us in 2014 bring your kids, and we can start a whole new generation of fans. It might be 12 years till we come back, and you can bring your grandkids. We will try not to bring all the cliches to Australia, no Knifey spoony or land down under, come to the show, hang out, enjoy a pint and get it in the pit.
