NOFX REVIEW

As we walked into the Hordern Pavilion last night, we were excited to see the final NOFX show for Sydney. As NOFX embarks on this Australian tour the band is hosting two different nights in each city with two different playlists from the archives.

The night opened with I Heard They Suck at Conversation. It was a fun and interesting way to open the show, and it’s always fun to listen to NOFX and have a chat. As we listened to the band they told stories, and answered questions, and it was moderated by Jay and Lindsay from Frenzal Rhomb.

As fast punk rockers Frenzal Rhomb hit the stage they played When Will I Be Loved, Where Drug Dealers Take Their Kids, Gone to the Dogs, Bird Attack, and Russell Crowe's Band. They didn't skip a beat and the raw vocals flew across the crowd, to thousands of eager fans.

As they continued to Play Mr Charisma, The Wreckage, Bucket Bong, Mummy Doesn't Know You're a Nazi, I Went Out With a Hippy, Now I Love Everyone Except for Her, and School Reunion, they played a lot of hard guitar riffs with ferocious drums and it had the grit and the energy and it made you want to mosh.

As Frenzal Rhomb kept playing Genius, Never Had So Much Fun, Instant Coffee, I Miss My Lung, When My Baby Smiles at Me I Go to Rehab, You Are Not My Friend, and Punch in the Face, the wall of sound came right at you with raw and melodic bass riffs that engaged the fans.

Next up was the band we had been waiting for, the one and only NOFX! As a wave of emotions came over us we were both excited and sad to see the last NOFX show in Sydney. This band delivers the best punk songs ever written and their songs hooked everyone in the audience.

NOFX PHOTOS FROM PREVIOUS CONCERT

As NOFX walked out on stage Time Warp played over the speakers and everyone started singing. Then in true NOFX style, the band started talking to the crowd and they were laughing. Then Fat Mike said “I guess you want to hear some songs“ and the crowd cheered.

Tonight was going to be an epic treat as the band were singing songs from three of their albums: So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes, The Decline and White Trash, Two Heebs and A Bean along with other hits.

As NOFX opened up their set with an AC/DC classic Riff Raff, the crowd went wild and the killer moshpit began. NOFX continued their set with Dinosaurs Will Die, Murder The Government, Bob, Stickin' in My Eye, Kids of the K-Hole, All Outta Angst, 72 Hookers, I Believe in Goddess, and Ronnie & Mags, and the Punk rock energy filled the room. Fat Mike, Eric Melvin, and El Hefe were jumping around the stage and exerted energy like you couldn't believe. The Fast, aggressive and in your face guitar riffs showed what the band are made of.

As NOFX Played Eat the Meek, El Hefe played amazing trumpet and it was a fun song to listen to, showing the diversity of the band.

NOFX continued with Fuck The Kids, Homophobic (Scared of Bums), Monosyllabic Girl, I'm Telling Tim, Cell Out, We Called It America, Kill Rock Stars, I Love You More Than I Hate Me, What's the Matter With Parents Today?, Ple
ase Play This Song on the Radio,
and Quart in Session / Franco Un-American. The classic NOFX songs filled the room with fast guitars and insane drumming. All the songs they played on stage were masterpieces with lyrics that made you think. Their songs are unbelievably brilliant, sonically epic and throat punching.

As NOFX continued with an array of songs including 180 Degrees, Soul Doubt, It's My Job to Keep Punk Rock Elite, Falling in Love, Les Champs-Élysées, Johnny Appleseed, I'm So Sorry Tony, Drop the World, She's Gone, Buggley Eyes, and The Decline, the performance was funny, had catchy and great songs. There were great, screechy vocals, and fast guitar riffs, and the drums grabbed you. There were a lot of cool guitar solos throughout the set in these epic speed-punk song, straight out of the NOFX mould. The blazing tempos caused a buzzing atmosphere and the crowd was jumping.

As the night came to a close, It was the greatest NOFX finale of all time, there were mega songs that are simply legendary and we were pumped that we got to watch such an epic set.
