NERVOSA AND BASTARDIZER REVIEW
Nervosa brought a thrash metal Onslaught to the Crowbar on Friday night and it Left Ears Ringing and Souls Satisfied. Nervosa played at a relentless speed, delivered furious riffs, and is a powerful female force to be reckoned with, and Bastardizer opened the night and is a powerhouse.
Bastardizer was first up and they opened with their ominous opening song "A Dose of Vengeance". As the thunderous drums, and brutal vocals came crashing through the venue, the headbanging was rampant, and there was a roar of approval after each song.
The crushing heaviness continued with "Crimson Trenches, Whiskey 'til Death," and the intensity of the rhythm section, anchored by the powerhouse drumming and the earth-shattering bass lines, provided a solid and unforgiving foundation.
Bastardizer continued with "Nuclear Savagery", and they gave us a master class of their craft. The pulsing guitars were relentless, and the barrage of razor-sharp riffs and blistering, intricate yet savage melodies burrowed deep into your veins. The harsh vocals, growls and piercing screams cut through the audience like a hot knife through butter, and we couldn't wait to hear the next tracks.
As the final songs "Pentagram of Pleasure and Midnight in Hell" played and the final notes of Bastardizer faded, we were sad to see them go. They delivered a brutal set with a setlist that was a well-curated mix of tracks from their discography, and it is an experience that is not to be missed. They are a force to be reckoned with, and their performance was a testament to their power.
Nervosa is an all women thrash metal band consisting of Prika Amaral on Vocals and Guitar, Helena Kotina on Guitar, Hel Pyre on Bass and Gabriela Abud on Drums and last night they showed us how it was done.
From the moment the lights dimmed and the opening chords played, we were entranced by the powerhouse Nervosa, as they kicked off their set with "Seed of Death and Behind the Wall" the catchy choruses and heavy guitar lines ripped through the speakers, it was clear that Nervosa was here to deliver one hell of a show.
The electrifying energy spread through the crowd, as Nervosa continued with "Death! and Kill the Silence" and Helena took charge with her aggressive and commanding riffs and Prika's raw and powerful vocals, and stage presence was captivating and engaging. The crowd brought their fierce energy and passion to the show and they were ready for what was to come.
The instrumental power continued as "Perpetual Chaos, Venomous and Ungrateful" played and the rhythm section was anchored by the solid thunderous and relentless drumming provided by Gabriela and it was the backbone that drove the entire performance forward.
Each song was delivered with the same level of intensity as the set kicked into "Masked Betrayer and Under Ruins" and the fierce wave of thrash metal had the crowd headbanging and moshing as the intricate riffs and powerful vocals hit us like a bolt of lightning. As the set continued with more electrifying hits than the last, we got to rock out to "Kill or Die and Jailbreak" and the high-octane performance was filled with blistering riffs and powerful vocals.
As Nervosa played their encore "Guided by Evil and Endless Ambition", it was a testament to the enduring power of thrash metal. If you have the chance to see Nervosa live, don't miss it, the sheer force of female thrash metal lived up to that reputation, and they delivered an onslaught that left the audience breathless and begging for more.
