TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with Johanna from Lucifer, thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

JA - Thank you for having me.

TM - You are bringing out your new album, what can fans expect?

JA - We tried to put a lot of passion and effort into our album. Fans can definitely expect no fillers, everyone in the band really likes the Lucifer album and it is all of our favourite albums to date. We always put the same effort into all our albums and the hope is we always get better at doing stuff. This is our favourite album, it has the most diversity and it was mixed really well this time. We did not mix it ourselves, so I think it sounds pretty good.

TM - What was your writing and recording process for your new Album?

JA - we always do the writing and recording process the same way. Most of our songs are written by my husband or our drummer Nicke Andersson. Nick gives me a demo and I take it and I sit in another room with my garage band and feed it in and then. I start recording vocals and writing lyrics and finishing up the demo. Then we all come back together and listen to it and we might rearrange the structure so that is how we compile all these demos for the album until we have enough songs with all the elements that we think a Lucifer album needs, like hard rock heavy metal and doom and if there is enough diversity there we stop because we have enough material. We record whenever we find time and between touring.

TM - Who mixed the songs?

JA - We gave it to our friend Robert and he has a very similar taste in music that we do. He has his own studio, so since we didn't have time to mix it ourselves he did it and it sounds better than all the other Lucifer albums. I think we may not mix it ourselves again.

TM - I saw you have vinyl available, that's pretty cool.

JA - We are sold out on our Facebook but we still have vinyls available on Nuclear Blast and some other outlets.

TM - How did you come up with your album cover and is there a meaning behind it?

JA - I always try and do something different with every album cover, something that pops off the record shelf. The original idea was to have everybody lie in coffins on the cover, next to each other. Nicke was trying to crop the album cover and arranged the album cover with everybody on it and moving around the coffins and I was sitting in the other room and he called me into the room and said I think it just needs to be you on the album cover. I was like, it looks like I'm an ego Maniac, we just had me on the cover of the last album, maybe it's not so good, we should have the whole band on the like a union. He said it is very striking to just have you on the cover and have a piece that folds out with everybody else inside and then we decided to go for it.

TM - It's really cool, we like it.

JA - Thank You.

TM - You Opened for Ghost, that's cool, how was it for you?

JA - it was cool, I have known Tobias for a long time now. When I used to live in Berlin, I used to put on heavy metal shows. I put on Ghost in a really small venue it was before the first album came out, so I have seen them grow that's why Tobias and I became friends. I've seen them grow from small clubs to bigger concert halls and we got to support them on an Arena tour which was pretty cool. I am very grateful that Ghost took us out with them, that was our first Arena show, and it was a cool experience to have under your belt.

TM - I also see you have been playing a lot of festivals.

JA - yeah we try and play as many festivals as possible, but the problem these days is travelling has got more expensive. We can't just travel to a festival and come home with no money because of travelling costs but we have some more festivals coming up and we are going to do a European tour because we have just finished the United States tour. We are hoping to go back to Japan this year and hopefully, we will be able to go to Australia this year or next year.

TM - We hope you can come to Australia soon.

JA - That would be Awesome.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?

JA - I think it should always be in their style, I think I would have Fleetwood Mac cover Maculate Heart.

TM - If you could collaborate with any band or others who would it be and why?

JA - I would probably collaborate with Danzig. I am a huge fan. I love the first four albums, I grew up listening to his music and he is a big influence on Lucifer.

TM - What was the first ever band or artist you saw live as a kid and did they influence your playing?

JA - The first band I ever saw live was Guns and Roses, I was 13 years old and it was 1992 and the same year I saw Metallica they were my first two rock shows. Both bands woke up my love for heavy metal. I went to Guns and Roses with my cousin and I went to Metallica with my first boyfriend. Luckily in Berlin where I lived, you could just take the subway a few stops and check out your favorite bands. I am glad I didn't grow up somewhere where it would have taken me years to see a big show.

TM - What Is your favourite festival you have played?

JA - We played on the Kiss Kruise, the duration of the trip was five days and we played three shows that were in the Bahamas and Miami so that was a very exotic festival. It was very entertaining and funny because you don't have the regular rock crowd, the fans were a little older and they had this 24-hour buffet. It was fun because they had this area where all the bands could hang out together and our guitar player played ping pong with Ace Frehley, that was one of the highlights of our trip. We stopped at Key West and I am a cemetery tourist so anywhere I am I like to go and explore cemeteries, It tells you a lot about their culture. We also got to hang out at the beach with other bands and other Kiss fans and Paul Stanley gave us a thumbs up which I thought was pretty cool.

TM - Is there Anything else you want to say to your fans?

JA - I hope everyone likes our new album and definitely gives it a spin. We also have a newsletter and you can sign up on our website https://linktr.ee/LuciferTheBand thank you for having me.
