Twinmusix chat to Mitch Parry from Loose End about there new album and more

How did you come up with your video for without a trace?

The video for Without A Trace was always going to be a wedding, our Vocalist Ben Smalley had the idea in his head for quite a while. It wasn't until we took the idea to our good friend and creator of the music video Hoodwolf that he gave us the idea to make it a little less serious which fits the personalities of everyone in the band perfectly.

What Gear do you use in the studio, Brand and Models ect (Guitars, Bass, Rigg, Drums)?

Jackson our drummer used his Ludwig Elemental SS, 12" Rack Tom, 16" Floor Tom, 22" Kick and a 14" Tama Silverstar Snare. From memory I believe the guitar gear was a Gibson Explorer with Seymour Duncan JB pickups with a Peavey 6505+ through a Mesa Boogie oversized cab.

If you could pick any music festival to perform at in the world, what music festival would you pick and why?

Without a doubt it would have to be Unify Music Gathering in Tarwin Lower. Everything about that music festival is everything we love about music festivals. Good vibes, good people, incredible bands. What more could you want!

What can fans expect from your new album?

The next release from the band will be a new sound but still sticking to the roots of what makes us Loose End. With new members and different influences coming on board it will definitely be a big sound.

Who wrote the songs your without a trace?

The song was written by our vocalist Ben Smalley as was much of our debut EP. With the help of our original guitarist and good friend Rhys Brennan they were able to turn it into the song it is today. It is still definitely one of our favourite songs to play live and one we were extremely excited to share with the world.

What bands influenced your style of music?

Some of our biggest influences would have to be Neck Deep, Foo Fighters, Trophy Eyes, Blink 182... the list could go on and on with all the bands that have influenced us. With each band member coming from a different musical background from Hardcore to Rap metal we all bring our own influences.

How did you all meet?

Our lead vocalist Ben Smalley and former Bassist Wilbur have known each other for years and started the band in around 2016 with the help of guitarist Rhys Brennan and a friend on drums, just before recording our debut EP our drummer left and the project nearly didn't happen. Luckily Rhys knew Jackson our now current drummer who drove from Horsham to learn the songs in an extremely short amount of time and filled in for the recording. Not long after recording Jackson brought Ben Schmidt in as a second guitarist. Rhys decided to pursue other musical ambitions and thats when myself (Mitch Parry) was asked by Ben Schmidt to join on guitar as we have known eachother for quite a long time. Now with Jack Smith on bass guitar who is a long time friend the final lineup for Loose End is locked in.

If you could have any band, performing your songs, which would it be and would it be in your style or there's?

For me personally it would have to be Neck Deep. To see a band we have all looked up too playing one of our songs would be a dream come true! I'd love to see them play Find My Place off of our debut EP and definitely in there style.

How did you come up with your band name?

Loose End is the last line of both verses in our song 'She's On My Mind'. We felt it kinda summed up our band and how we all came to be a band. It was all through complete luck.

Anything else you want to announce to your fans?

We are heading back into the studio in late May/ June to record our next EP. To have this current lineup and different influences coming into the band definitely watch this space, its full speed ahead in the Loose End Camp.
