LLOYD COLE
TM - Hi this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Lloyd Cole, Thank you for having this interview with us today. We appreciate it.
LC - You are welcome.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
LC - I am very excited to come to Australia, it is sooner than I thought. I have a new promoter over there that said let's bring Lloyd over in March, and I thought i might come next December.
TM - What can fans expect from your setlist?
LC - All I know right now is I have committed to playing electric guitar instead of acoustic, and it is a solo show. I have been practicing my electric guitar at the same time as working with my Luthier to build the electric guitar sound. I have just been working on my skills and working through these songs to figure out what song sounds good onthe electric guitar. There are a few songs that I wasn't sure that would work with an electric guitar, as there is a lot of strumming, but I figured out a way to get a strumming sound that works, so I am excited.
TM - What is your favourite song to play live?
LC - My current favourite is "Speedboat" from the album "Rattlesnakes". I think it's because I thought I would never be able to play it live, but when I was stuck in the basement during covid and making videos on my iPhone, I figured out a way to play it. It seems to be one of the most popular songs in the set.
TM - What is your favourite memory playing last time you were in Australia?
LC - One of my favourite memories was going out in Sydney with my new friend Jack Ladder, and ill be seeing him again this time.
TM - Are you working on any new music?
LC - I am working on some new music, but it is just not going very quickly. I only got home about a week ago after I did my tour in Belgium and France, and then spent some time with my parents in the UK. I am now home for about 10 weeks, and I am going to start some recording again. I started recording about six months ago, but it got stored because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I think I have a better idea now of what I want to write, so we will see how it goes.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?
LC - I would have "Kraftwerk" playing or my friends from Sweden called "Bob Hund". I think they are my favourite current rock band that is still playing. I would like to see them play "Are You Ready to Be Heatbroken" in their style.

TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live, and can you tell us a story?

LC - The first band I saw live was when I was eleven and saw "Chicory Tip". My parents got tickets because it was in a small town near where we lived. My mother was very bold and got us backstage to see them after the show, and they had a number one hit in 1971 with a song called "Son of My Father". Now that might not sound very exciting but that was the very first hit outside of Germany that "Giorgio Moroder" had, and he was a producer who broke through in the mid seventies with the artist "Donna Summer" on a song called "I Feel Love", and it was the beginning of electronic dance music. He went on to produce a lot of things like the soundtrack of "Midnight Express" and a "David Bowie" song called "Cat People".
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
LC - I am looking forward to coming back to Australia. I always have a good time when I am down there. Please come out and see me.
TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

LC - Cheerio then, thank you.
