LEX LEGION
TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with LEX LEGION thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
LL - Thank you.
TM - What can fans expect from your new album 'Gypsy Tears'?
LL - We use to play together a long time ago and we still have our Roots from the seventies and Eighties. That is what you will hear on the album. You can't take away the influences that we have, even though the songs are different to what we played before. Our songs are melodic heavy metal with really groovy heavy riffs. If you compare it to what we did before, this is easier to listen to. There are some interesting elements in the music, and we try to stay on the dark side on some of the songs, but it is definitely powerful and heavy metal.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for 'Gypsy Tears'?
LL - It is usually me and Pete that start in my studio with a few riffs. One of us might come up with a starting riff, and then the other one might come up with the next riff, and we put some stuff together. Then Mikkey comes to the studio with some thoughts about the music, and he rearranges some things and adds in some drum rolls that make it more interesting. After that, we send it to Nils, who is creating all the melodies and great lyrics. Then we bounce it back and forth till we find the right sound. Hal is great with his Bass Playing, and we are all involved in the music writing, which is great, everyone has a say.
TM - Who Mixed and Mastered the Album 'Gypsy Tears'?
LL - I mixed and mastered the album. I guess it comes naturally, I thought I would give it a try and see if everyone liked it and they did. There was some input from the other guys aswell who added some parts.
TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for 'Gypsy Tears'?
LL - Mikkey Dee Came up with the Album cover, he saw something similar and came up with the idea and I thought it was cool. I like the black and white and I thought it fit the atmosphere of the album.
TM - How did you come up with your video for "Sleep Eternally?
LL - Patrick helped us with the video he is a great guy and has worked with a lot of different bands, he has worked with "Dimmu Borgir, Evergrey and Amorphis".
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?
LL - Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads playing our song 'Gypsy Tears' or ABBA playing "Far Away" on the album.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live as a kid and can you tell us a story?
LL - The first band that I attempted to see live was 'Alice Cooper' on 'Welcome to my Nightmare' in 1975 but my parents said no your to young. When I was twelve, I went to Blue Oyster Cult as they played in my hometown. I went with my uncle, and it was my first live show ever, and it was absolutely amazing.
TM - If you had a time machine who would you go back and see live?
LL - I would go back to 1976 and see UFO with Michael Schenker. I would also see Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhodes in 1991, that would be absolutely amazing.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
LL - I am sorry that we haven't come to Australia yet with King Diamond, but hopefully in the future we can. Once our album is released by Lex legion we are going to see how people like it and go from there. This will not just be a recording band, this will also be a touring band. Our first album will be released in June and we already have ideas for our second album so hopefully next year we will be touring it and we would love to come to Australia.
NS - Sorry for interrupting this is Nils the singer of LEX LEGION.
TM - Nice to meet you.
NS - Like wise, if there's anything you want to ask go ahead.
TM - If you could have any band or Artist play one of your songs what band would it be what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?
NS - If Iron Maiden could do a cover of our song gypsy tears that would be awesome.
TM - That would be awesome.
TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
LL - Thank you.
