In 1991 Thomas Youngblood and drummer Richard Warner formed Kamelot in Tampa, Florida. In 1994 the band signed a deal with Noise Records, and the released “Eternity” in August. In 1997, drummer Warner and singer Mark Vanderbilt were replaced with Casey Grillo and former Conception singer Khan. The new line-up did an extensive tour of Europe during the fall of the same year, and produced their fourth studio effort, “The Fourth Legacy”.

A few months later the band presented their fifth album entitled Karma. Kamelot followed this up by releasing “Epica” in 2003 and was shortly followed by “The Black Halo”. Kamelots video ‘The Haunting’ and ‘March of Mephisto’ became huge hits on Youtube and furthered their career when they started their own YouTube channel.

In 2007 Kamelot presented themselves more sinister and soulful on Ghost Opera. In 2010 they released  “Poetry For The Poisoned”,  and it returned to the melodic aspects of their sounds with their new vocalist Tommy Karevik. Their newest album titled  “The Shadow Theory” was released this year it truly shows the roots of their sound.

Twinmusix got to speak to "Tommy Karevik" From Kamelot about their Australian tour and more.

TM- What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

TK- A band on fire, we always want to bring the best show wherever we go and always try and give our fans the best experience possible. We are really excited to join our fans in Australia tour.

TM- What was your writing and recording process for Shadow Theory?

TK- The recording and writing process for us is, Thomas and Oliver meet up and start working on basic ideas,  then Oliver and I started working on the the songs on skype. Once we have the songs we need and we feel like we have a good pacing we go to Germany and start writing lyrics and melodies, then we get together in the studio and record it.

TM- How did you come up with your album cover for Shadow Theory?

TK- Stefan heilmann designed it for us, he is a German Artist. When we saw the design we loved it! We are really happy with it.

TM- What was it like working with Lauren heart on your new album?

TK- I knew that question was coming "haha". She is great, she is really good to work with and she sings really well. She is a great screamer and she was super excited to to work with us.

TM- The lyrics on your new album about about the current state of civilization what made you want to write about this?

TK- All of us are really into this topic and its mind boggling were we are going. We are being ruled with out knowing it. It is really hard to know what is the truth out there.

TM- Sacha Path produced your new album how did he influence the way you write?

TK- He had a big influence, he is such a talented guy with such a good ear for music he's a big part of the Kamelot sound and has been for a very long time.

TM- You have released on DVD in the past would you consider releasing another DVD?

TK- Yes, we are filming a new DVD in tilburg in September!.

TM- Awesome! We are excited to see it! Tilburg is a great place! You should definitely visit the little Devil.

TK- I'll try and check it out while we are over there.

TM- If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would it be which song and in your style or theirs?

TK- Muse doing one of our songs in their style

TM- What's your favorite tour with Kamelot?

TK- The first show with me as the lead singer in Czech Republic in front of 30,000 people it was kind of like a baptism by fire kind of everything went super well.

TM- If you had to choose one song title as a Biography title what would it be?

TK- TBurns to Embrace because everything I turn to do in music seems to have a dark side.
