irist 2.jpg

Twinmusix got to speak to Pablo Davila from Irist about their new album and more.

TM - It is Liz and Amelia from Twinmusix, thank you for having this interview with us today. How are you?

PD - It is Sunny here, going to put something on the grill later.

TM - Sounds good!. Enjoy your grilling. You brought out your new album Order of the Mind how have fans responded?

PD - We got a good response, but this is our first album out so we have nothing to reference it by. People reacted really well to our Singles that we brought out too. There is also a lot of variety because all the songs are very different to each other.

TM - What was your writing and recording process for Order of the Mind?

PD - I start the demos with the guitar, bass and drums but no vocals. Then I show the rest of the guys and they would have a melody or a vocal idea and then we will put some songs together and record them at Adams house because he has a studio in his basement. We record everything and get into the guitar tones and use different pedals. After that, we start changing the drums around and start structuring and restructuring the songs. Eventually, we are satisfied.

TM - You only got together in 2015, how did this come about?

PD - I already knew Bruno Mars bass player. I played in a few bands with him but in 2015. I knew Adam at the time so I asked him to join. Then we put a musician add online and got Rodrigo. We saw Jason play on drums on YouTube and asked him to join.

TM - How did you come to get signed by Nuclear Blast?

PD - When we finish writing and recording our EP 2017, we sent it to this guy called Matt in Seattle Washington to mix it for us, we asked him to send it to out to a bunch of his friends and he sent it to his friend Monte who works for Nuclear Blast. We were sending him CD'S for a year and a half and eventually, he decided to sign us. Then we started recording in the UK.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be, what song would it be and in your style or their style?

PD - I would like A Folk band to do one of our songs in this style.

TM - if you could collaborate with any eyes who would it be and why?

PD - Mike from Yob playing Acoustic guitar.

TM - What's your favourite memory of watching someone else perform live?

PD - I remember seeing Tina mechanical. I saw them for the first time and I remember being completely Blown Away by the set. I heard about them but never heard any of their songs and I was completely speechless about their set.

TM - What is your favourite moment with your fans?

PD - The day we recorded this album, we took a ferry to France and drove to Belgium and played a show. The bar that was packed out. We made a lot of friends that night and the beer was delicious, everything worked out really well that night. That is my memory with our fans.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

PD - Stay home, stay safe and hopefully, we will get be out there performing for everyone soon.

TM - Thank You for having this interview with us today, we really appreciate it.
