​Infectious Grooves AND The Inspector Cluzo

Infectious Grooves had an epic lineup of musicians that graced The Roundhouse in Sydney last night. We got to watch bassist Robert Trujillo best known for his part in Metallica, guitarist Dave Kushner (ex-Velvet Revolver), Jay Weinberg (ex-Slipknot drummer), Vocalist Mike Muir and guitarist Dean Pleasants deliver a mix of punk energy, thrash metal guitars and real funk.

First up was The Inspector Cluzo, a rock-blues guitar and drums duo from France. We got to experience Laurent on Guitars and Vocals and Mathieu on Drums. The dynamic duo played an upbeat set with a solid drum beat and fun guitar rhythms and it was a pleasure watching them play.

The room went dark and an Infectious Grooves video started playing, then the band walked on stage with dressed up characters from their album covers and it blew our minds. As they kicked off their set with These Freaks Are Here to Party, Turtle Wax and Stop Funkin’ With My Head, Rob Trujillo was an utter monster on the bass guitar and the rhythms had the crowd bopping. Mike Muir and the band delivered top notch funk metal with tons of energy. 


Infectious Grooves continued with hits including: Punk It Up, Lock It In The Pocket, and Violent And Funky. The melodic, infectious, danceable grooves, and beats ripped through the mosh pit and the jazz fusion energy was dynamite. Jay Weinberg's drumming was heavy and fun. Dave Kushners thrashy guitar leads had a rapid-fire and an even blend of funk music which kicked ass. Mike Muir's attitude and sense of humour created a fun vibe when he was talking to the fans and he reminded us how much he loves Australia.

As Infectious Grooves played Monster Skank, it was one of the coolest pieces of music I've ever heard! It showcased all the musician's talents within the band. Dean Pleasants played powerful riffs and he was a driving force in both music and style, which was evident by his cool jacket.

Infectious Grooves played the suicidal tendencies songs Subliminal and Send Me Your Money as the last two songs, and the crowd was dancing and moshing from start to finish.

Last night we got to party and let off steam with Infectious Grooves. It was fun seeing Suicidal Tendencies songs taking over at the end of the night. Every time you see this band play live they get more pure and more powerful.
