Twinmusix got to speak to Chris from Hidden Intent.

TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Chris from Hidden Intent. Thank you for having this interview with us today We appreciate it.

CS - Thank you.

TM - You brought out your new album "Terrorform" How did fans respond?

CS -
It is mad, it is the best response we have had on any release. I think it's because it is a little bit more diverse than previous Hidden Intent albums. We have widened our pallet and played a little bit more on this album. It is a little bit darker and heavier and it is getting a bit of extra traction than our previous albums. I think people can see where we have challenged ourselves rather than belting out another "Dead End Destiny" part two. I am pretty proud of the response so far and very stoked.

TM - What's your favourite song on "Terrorform"?

CS - My favourite song on this album is "Reaper" and it is basically about lifeless humans. People who walk around day-to-day and go to work and are on repeat on a hamster wheel. The lyrics are lifeless and eyes enter the mind. It is like you might be alive but you are dead on the inside. That is one of my favourite tracks, it is a bit darker and there is a lot of tuning and it took a few people by surprise. It took a blackened thrash approach which we haven't done previously.

TM - What was your writing and recording process for "Terrorform"?

CS - This album was made a little bit differently. On the previous albums, we would go away somewhere in the country and rent a studio out where there is no reception and we would go out there and jam some songs and put some rough recordings down. On this album, we did that plus we did pre-production using Garage Band and whatever programs were at our disposal and we were able to sit back a bit more and listen to songs and the album as a whole. Then we did pre-production for the whole album where we demoed every song. Before we only did it for a couple of songs but this time we were able to do the whole album. Then we went to the studio and recorded it professionally. We had everything set besides a few changes before we got in the studio so it was a lot different in that respect.

TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for "Terrorform"?

CS - The album is a lot darker in theme, so we thought that the red and orange would not work for this album because the album is about personal loss. Our guitarist sister passed away and we wanted to reflect that in the album the best way we could. It was going to be more about personal loss so we knew it needed to be a darker theme; that is why we have a girl on the front with hatred and darker themes to reflect that.

TM - How did you come up with your video for "The Ruins"?

CS -
That was footage that we had lying around from when we played "Fourth and Fury" in 2023. We knew we had that footage there and we knew we would use it for the new album, and we edited it well to capture the song. We were originally going to use the video for another song, but we decided "The Ruins" was going to be our single. I think it is cool, and it captures our live show, we are stoked with how it came out, the editing is unreal.

TM - You have some shows coming up what can fans expect?

CS - We have a weekend away in NSW, we are playing Sydney on May the 9th at Inferno's Rock room, which is cool. You can expect the usual in your face Aussie trash metal, get a dog up ya mate, drop bears are real vibe. You can expect some darker, heavier music now and it will be noticeable that the band has gone heavier with the vocals and a lot deeper and angrier now, so the show will be everything that you would expect from "Hidden Intent". We will have a few more intros over the PA as we are getting a bit more professional.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be, what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?

CS - I would love to hear Steel Panther play "Drop Bears" in their style, that would be awesome. They could put their little glam rock type of spill on it and our guitarist would be up for that because he is a massive 80s secret closet Steel Panther fan.

TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live and can you tell us a story?

CS - The first band I saw live was The Living End. I saw them with a mate of mine that I am still friends with. He is a massive fan and he was saying how he was going to Geek out. I was just getting into bands like Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters and Nirvana and that was a gateway for me to get into metal. He told me, "I am going to see The Living End, you should come with me" and I was like oh cool. I checked out a few songs and the show was nuts. My memory of the show was watching them in a theatre in Adelaide and it was an old historic Theatre and they packed the whole place out. I had just started playing bass guitar and I didn't realise that old mate came out with a double bass but then I remembered seeing it in the clip. He did a bass guitar solo and stood on top of it and played it. I was blown away and he did a stage dive with the double bass it was crazy and I thought how is that possible.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

CS -
Give "Terraform" a go because we worked out asses off on this album. There was so much back and forth and we tried to make the song stand out as much as we could. Give it a listen and come to a show. Go to all band shows that you see the extra ticket sale could help out with a hotel room. Or grab a new piece of merch, go and support live music and good Australian artists and thrash or die.

TM - Thank You for having this interview with us today, we appreciate it.

CS - Thank you for having me.
