HAMMERFALL REVIEW
On Saturday the 18th of January, the people of Sydney were treated to an incredible event! The first ever Sydney show of Swedish power metal group Hammerfall!
Upon arrival at the venue, the excitement was already buzzing in the air of people excited to experience Hammerfall for possibly their first time! Even the rain couldn’t damper their spirits.
As the fans entered and swarmed the merch desk, the bar, and the barrier, the first band Silent Knight took to the stage.
Silent Knight, a heavy metal band from Perth Australia set the bar damn fucking high when they kicked off! Their powerful beats, wailing solos, heavy vocals and sheer raw energy were intoxicating and the audience ate it up.
Next up we’re a personal favourite of mine, the Viking powerhouse band Valhalore from Brisbane Australia, I have seen this band multiple times and once again, they did not disappoint! They had the audiences attention locked and loaded, their unique blend of heavy riffs, folk instruments, and melodies were beyond incredible. As an added treat for the audience, the band announced that they will be returning in May on a headline Aussie tour!
As the lights went out through the venue, and then lit up the stage, the audience scream was deafening as Hammerfall walked on and wasted no time before ripping into Avenge The Fallen.
Of course they didn’t make us wait as they continued to bring the house down with Heeding The Call, Any Means Necessary, Hammer Of Dawn, and so many more amazing songs.
The entire venue rang out with the amazing vocals, and jokes of lead vocalist Joacim Cans, backed by the shredding of guitarists Oscar Dronjak and Pontus Norgren, and not to forget the heavy bass lines of Fredrik Larsson and the fast and precise drumming of David Wallin.
The band continued to blow the audience away with some of their greatest hits like Let The Hammer Fall, Glory To The Brave, and (We Make) Sweden Rock.
Sadly the night was coming to a close but not without the band teasing the possibility of returning to our shores very soon, and then closing the show with Hearts On Fire and Dreams Do Come True.
We were so happy that we finally got to see Hammerfall in Australia and we cannot wait for their return! Which we hope is extremely soon
