H.E.A.T

TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with Kenny from H.E.A.T, thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it. How are you?

KY - Good, just working on some new music.

TM - You just said you are working on some new music is that for a new album?

KY - Yes that is correct.

TM - can you tell us more about it?

KY - We are working on all the pieces to make a new album. We want to release that bad boy as soon as possible and we are working hard on putting it together. We have already recorded a lot of drums and guitar, so we will see when it comes out it is moving forward so we are happy.

TM - Do you think you will play any of your new songs in Australia?

KY - I'm not sure about that because our set list is quite short, we will have to choose things that fans will want to hear.

TM - what can fans expect from your Australian tour?

KY - Fans can expect an action packed set, we will bring our A-game to the festival. Everyone just wants to get on stage and celebrate the rock and roll spirit and we want to add to the experience for everyone coming.

TM - You're coming back to Australia is there anything you are looking forward to doing?

KY - The last time we came to Australia we loved the culture and loved the people. I said it before and I will say it again it's a huge place but everyone has a relaxed nature like an island population. I can't wait to come back to Australia and enjoy the Vibe you have going on there.

TM - Is there anything you didn't see last time that you would like to see this time?

KY - I think I would like to see the beaches, we didn't have much time last time. Last time our schedule was pretty packed playing shows back to back and travelling in between but this time since we aren't headlining hopefully we have more time to explore. I am not prepared for what I want to check out but I'm sure something will catch my interest and I will go and check it out.

TM - If you have time you should catch the ferry across to Manly, and check out the surf beach.

KY - I'll have to go and check that out.

TM - You released Extra Force last year how did fans respond?

KY - I think when you release something out of your regular album cycle the fans were pleased with it and were happy to hear music that hasn't been released previously. I think the record company and the band wanted us to put these songs out because they didn't make it onto Force Majeure so we just put this album together and it seems to have gone down really well. If we have more songs lying around in the future we may do it again.

TM - What was your writing and recording process on those new songs?

KY - It's different for every song some track. When you're recording them some tracks are pre-written by one of the guys in the band. Sometimes we add layers. We would jam it out for a bit and see how it goes it usually starts with a seed with a song and then everyone in the band tries to pitch in and we see how it goes.

TM - You went on the Monsters of Rock cruise, how was that?

KY - Monsters of Rock is special because you have all these rock and roll fans from all parts of the world and it's really special to celebrate music from every band playing and a festival. Glam Fest is special because you have musicians from lots of different eras, different styles and different genres. I think it's a good opportunity to be together and celebrate this music we love so much.

TM - what's your favourite memory of watching someone else perform live can you tell us a story?

KY - I went to an Iron Maiden show, I was very young and very impressionable. I was probably 16 or 17 and I had previously been in a karaoke competition that I had won so I was due to get up with them and sing a song called Heaven Can Wait. I did that and that left a pretty big mark on me personally.

TM - I saw you are going to be playing with Extreme this summer.

KY - We are I am a really big fan of what they do. It goes without saying, that I think most people are Nuno Bettencourt has an excellent way of playing.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?

KY - I think there are a lot of great bands that could do some awesome stuff with a H.E.A.T song. How about Skid Row with Eric doing a H.E.A.T song that would be cool.

TM - Anything else you want to say to your fans?

KY - It is a great honour for us to come from Stockholm to Australia and play the music that we have been working on and share our music with all our fans. To continue our journey because we want to keep coming back to Australia to support these scenes and build on this and put rock and roll back into where it belongs.
