DIRTY HONEY REVIEW

3/04/2024

The Black Cardinals from Sydney Australia and Dirty Honey from Los Angeles Played at the crowbar last night and they put on an epic gig.

The Black Cardinals walked on stage to a packed out room and they were ready to experience an exciting night with their fans. As The Black Cardinals kicked off their set with "Secrets Out and Gravity" The sleazy, slide-guitar riffs were a belter and the chorus made you have a ride-or-die attitude and true love and appreciation for The Black Cardinals. As they continued with hits including "Broken Man, Love On The Rise and Switch Me Off" relentless riffs and echoing drum beats filled the venue. The BlackCardinals played a cover of "Come Together by The Beatles" and the crowd danced along and it showed the diversity of their band and how talented they are. As The band played their last song "Demons", we were sad to see them leave the stage except everyone was excited to see Dirty Honey.

As Dirty Honey embarked on their way to Sydney they made a quick stop at Blues Fest In Byron Bay to show them what they are made of. We got to watch Dirty Honey "Marc LaBelle on vocals, John Notto on guitar, Justin Smolian on bass, and Jaydon Bean on drums kill it last night. As Dirty Honey walked on stage a roar of excitement filled the room and they kicked off their set with "California Dreamin', Heartbreaker and Scars" and the groovy,  riffy, modern rock tone with Crunchy chords filled our souls with excitement and we were ready for the next songs. Dirty Honey continued with hits including " Dirty Mind, The Wire and Another Last Time" and the lush harmonies and tasteful solos showed us what Dirty Honey is made of.

As the "Eruption by Van Halen" was played on stage the crowd was rocking out with their air guitars and it was a fun addition to an already outstanding set. The next song up was "When I'm Gone" followed by the Aussie classic "Girls Got Rhythm by AC/DC" every single person in the crowd knew the lyrics and sang them back to the band.

As The band was introduced to the crowd, everyone got to play their own solo and it was rich in both riffs, drum beats and rock-star vibes. As The band played their last song "Rolling 7s" the seamless transition between broken chords and power chords was particularly impressive.

Dirty Honey and The Black Cardinals put on a thrilling performance and it was a clear cut above other classic rock-inspired bands, making their show quite like no other.
