DESTRUCTION INTERVIEW

DESTRUCTION 1.jpg

Twinmusix got to speak to Schmier from DESTRUCTION about their new album "Born To Perish" which will be released on August 9th.

TM - What can fans expect from your Album "Born To Perish"?

S - This time you can expect something different because we have a new lineup. We have a new drummer and a new guitarist so there is more shredding on this album. We have composed the whole album to fit two guitars, it creates a little extra rush and thrill on this album. It is brutal, loud and has a lot of details, especially in the guitar compartment.

TM - How has adding a new drummer and extra guitarist affected your writing and recording process?

S - We had the same procedures and we worked with the same team as last time. We have more guitar, which means more possibilities than performing as a trio. Now we can do all those cool guitar riffs that we couldn't do before. Randy also contributed to some drum parts to the album and it is really good. We also recorded in a different order from last time, the new guys gave us some input which came out well on the album.

TM - Are you planning on touring your new album?

S - We are playing a festival the day the album comes out. After our festival, we are hitting the road straight away with overkill and hopefully, we can come to Australia and Asia next year.

TM - That is cool. We can't wait to see you back in Australia. What festivals are you playing?

S - We are playing Brutal Assault Festival which is the biggest extreme metal festival in Europe. Then we are playing in Germany, Austria, and Bulgaria.

TM - I love festival season in Europe, we were just at Hellfest.

S - Wow that is one of the best festivals. It has developed from one of the smallest festivals in Europe to one of the biggest festivals in Europe. We hope to play it next year.

TM - You pay tribute to Gary Moore on your new album, what inspired that?

S - The song is about the plane that came down over Ukraine. Gary Moore wrote the song The Skies in the 80's when a flight over Japan got shot down. It is one of my favourite songs and the lyrics are so deep and quite scary.

When this plane was shot down over the Ukraine it was a plane that came from Holland and a friend of mine had a friend on board. I was really shocked that this could happen and I thought "why don't I write a song about this". It was a really bizarre plane Crush and it's a part of history. I had to write a song in tribute to the people that have died and the people that will never have an answer.

TM - That is so sad. What a great tribute.

TM - If you could have any bands play one of your songs which band would it be which song would it be and would it be in your style or their Style?

S - Gary Moore playing one of our songs in his style

TM - What can European fans expect from your festival sets?

S - Born To Perish is the opening song of our setlist. You can check it out online via digital streaming portals and YouTube. We are going to add some new songs to the setlist but also keep it old and exciting.

TM - Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?

S - We have played it is a three-piece in Australia and would love to play as a 4 piece in Australia. Also, check out the new 4 piece album soon.

TM - We cannot wait to have you come back to Australia.
