DESCENDENTS REVIEW

As we arrived at the metro theatre on Sunday night, the punks were out in full force. We got to watch three epic bands, Tanitchrist, Nursery Crimes, and Descendents rock on stage and man they meant business!

Tanitchrist opened the night with some killer songs, as they performed ' Chasm, Buried Away, Thoughts + Prayers, Frankenstein, Doomsday, After-image, Sadboys, Fuck or Fight, Kids of the Lane and ghostriders'. They are ferociously energetic and heavy as hell, their big choruses and vocal clarity filled the venue, and they are definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Nursery Crimes, a hardcore band from Melbourne, were up next and they delivered amazing lead vocals and rocking harmonies, as they kicked off the set with 'Who's Sorry Now, All Torn Up Inside, Shotgun, Not Foolin Around, Godfrey Carson and Marked By Time'. As Nursery Crimes continued to play 'Julie is a Junkie, Eleanor Rigby and What Do you know' they delivered melodic and crashing guitar riffs which spread through the room.

The Descendents kicked off the set with 'Everything Sucks, Hope, Silly Girl, Food, On Paper, Bear Clean Sheets, Nightage, Victim of Me, Nothin For You I'm not a Punk, Rotting Out, Punk and Van' This was an energetic set from the word go and the crowd got up and danced and sung along to all the hits. As Milo's vocals filled the venue, they remained strong and he worked the crowd like the rock n roll veteran he is. The bass line was fast and super killer and the crushing and drilling drums brought a raw and emotional sound.

As the Descendents continued to play 'Mexican, WeinerSchnitzel, Without Love, Coffee Mug, My Age, When I Get Old, Coolidge, Grow Up, I'm The One, Biksge, Thank You, Suburban Home and Smile'. The fast tempos, distorted riffs, stripped-down instrumentation, and shouted lyrics showed the band's diversity and reinforced that this band was tight, unique, and creative on stage. The guitars in this set were brutal and shattered your eardrums.

As the night came to a close The Descendents proved their songs are still catchy, punchy, and rapid-fire approach retained momentum throughout the set that kept the fans involved.
