Twinmusix got to speak to Jacob from D-A-D
TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Jacob from D-A-D Thank you for having this interview with us today; we appreciate it.
JB - Thank you.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
JB - We will be playing a best of tour. We will be playing songs from all our albums, and we have quite a long setlist. We will be playing songs from our biggest album, "No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims", so it should be a great show.
TM - What is your favourite song to play live?
JB - It changes, at the moment, my favourite song is "Something Good". It is a slow song, and we finally got it right. We really enjoy playing it, and it goes down really well with the audience, so come and enjoy the songs with us.
TM - Do you have any pre-show rituals?
JB - Sometimes I sit around and play my guitar or read the news on my computer. It is something I can vegetate to and have a coffee, and then I am ready to play.
TM - What was your favourite memory from coming to Australia last time?
JB - I went swimming on the Gold Coast and survived with no shark attacks. I had really good Shiraz wine all over Australia. I had a day off in Perth, and it was amazing. It was a remote place. I like to walk around cities and soak up the mood. Some places like Brisbane and Perth are more Relaxed, and there is a lot of space. You don't get a lot of that in central Europe.
TM - Are you working on any new music?
JB - Not at the moment. Our last album was released in 2024. We had an anniversary for our music, and we had an exhibition at the National Museum of Denmark. It was about the whole history of D.A.D. We spent a lot of time doing that, and it was a great honour. Now we are doing a tour of our greatest hits, and it is a bit of a break before we start working on our new stuff.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live, and can you tell us a story?
JB - The first show I went to was when I was 13 years old. I went with my friends, and it was The Ramones in Copenhagen at the Odd Fellow Palæet on September 1 1980. I still have the ticket, and we were just skateboard kids. We were really scared, as it was really Rowdy in the venue, but it was incredible.
TM - If you could go back in a time machine, who would you see live?
JB - I would go back and see Jimi Hendrix in 1967 in London, when he first came over. I would have loved to see that because it would have been completely mind-blowing.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would you choose? What song would you choose, and would it be in your style or their style?
JB - The Beatles, but that couldn't happen.
TM - How about Paul McCartney or Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.
JB - That would be an honour, and a game-changer, if either of them chose a D.A.D song.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
JB - We hope you all come out and enjoy these shows with us, because we really enjoy coming to Australia. We hope that you come out and have a good time.
