Twinmusix got to speak to Jasper from D.A.D. about their upcoming tour and more.

TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Jasper from D.A.D. Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

JR - Thank you.

TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

JR - At the moment, we are in pretty good shape. We played some big shows in Europe and Copenhagen in November, and some arenas in January. We are rehearsing for the summer, so we are giving Australia what we are giving the rest of the world.

TM - What can fans expect from your setlist?

JR - It seems like everybody is listening to our new stuff and streaming it. We are going to try and throw in a few of our new songs, but everyone knows when you go to a concert, you want to hear the hits because you've had a few beers and you want to party. It feels like Australia is filled up with rock bands and wants to hear the new stuff as well.

TM - How have fans responded to your newest album, "Speed of Darkness"?

JR - It has been great, We celebrated, and we went to the National Museum in Denmark, and we had this audience and anniversary, and everyone was looking forward to it. We released our new album with new songs, and people were like, woah, that was great, these guys are still living and still working. We needed to surprise everyone, and we did surprise them, so there has been great feedback.

TM - You are playing Hellfest and Waken Open Air what can fans expect?

JR - It is a miracle for a band our age that they still call us out to play Waken and Hellfest, it is very black every time we play. We change the setlist, and we are like should we put in some more heavy metal songs. We think let's just be ourselves, and the audience picks up on the energy, and when you finish this set, it feels like nothing was lacking. We feel welcome in those hard rock and heavy metal communities, so we are thankful.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be, what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?

JR - A few years ago Metallica was playing Copenhagen, and they played a cover of one of our songs, and my phone lit up with people saying they were playing a D.A.D. song, that was cool. The smart answer would be if Taylor Swift played "Between You & Me" but maybe it should be AC/DC playing "Rim of Hell".

TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live, and can you tell us a story?

JR - I was a teenager, and my girlfriend just dumped me, my mother and father had an argument. I went and saw the Ramones in Copenhagen, so that was a Coming of Age day where maybe I was alone. I had a punk rock thing going for me, and my friends were like this is our future. We were skateboarding kids, and we were big fans of The Ramones ever since punk started, so that was a big pivotal moment for me to welcome to adulthood my friend.

TM - What's your favourite memory of watching someone else perform live, can you tell us a story?

JR - There is an all-female Norwegian black metal band called Witch Club Satan, and they are furious. They are soaked to the brim with emotions. It is black Metal and it's fresh blood and new blood. I have never felt this punk anger, it's a bit like watching a theatre show, but scary.

TM - You brought out "Live from the Arena" for your 40th anniversary can you tell us more about it?

JR - We sold out the arena in Copenhagen, which is 16,000 people, and we recorded it. Last week it was number one not just in the vinyl where rock hits but on the whole album charts, physical streams, and downloads, being number one in Denmark after 40 years, it is a victory. Our old drummer, Peter, joined us for three songs, and he had a drum off with Laust Sonne, and it was extremely moving that Peter joined us after twenty-five years. He knew all the drums, and he played all the songs we were happy he was there, and Laust Sonne was very inviting and accommodating.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

JR - We have been scratching on the door of the rock community in Australia for many years, and a couple of years ago, you let us in, and now you will not get rid of us. We are so happy to come down, and it is a beautiful country. Four Danish guys will come down and be happy to be there, and we hope to see you there as well.
