Conjurer

TM - Hi this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Conjurer. Thank You for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

CR - Thank you for having me.

TM - What can fans expect from your new Album, Unself?

CR - This album is not quite to the halfway point. This new album is between the last two albums that we have done. The sounds somewhere in the middle. Our first album, "Mier", was straight to the point with heavy riffs. The second album, "Pathos" was explored with a lot of atmosphere and progressive stuff. Our new album "Unself" is a lot of atmospheric stuff, and we wanted the songs to be shorter and get back to heavy riffs. We wanted this album to be hard-hitting. We wanted something that you don't have to listen to a bunch of times to hear every intricate detail, and it encapsulates everything we do in one little package.

TM - What was your writing and recording process?

CR - We take a while to write albums. We took 4 years to write the last album and took 3 years to write this album. I think we are getting better at writing. We are not a band that writes on the road, it takes us a long time. For this album, we were getting ideas together sooner, so we didn't have to rush at the end, but we nitpick at the end, so it still takes a while to get everything together. This time, we wanted to leave things more open. We went into the studio with our songs about eighty or ninety percent finished, then we got the opportunity to be creative and not commit to something straight away. Joe was our producer, and we mixed the album with him and got his opinion on things. We spent a month in the studio, which we normally never do. We just go in for a week or two and smash it out, but this time was a lot better overall, and it was a lot more fun than how it was previously.

TM - What can fans expect from your European tour?

CR - Conjurer songs, we are spending a week in Europe and then going back to the UK. We are going to play a bunch of stuff from our new album and the best of our last two albums. We have always been a very good live band, and I think that's where a lot of people have become our fans where they listen to us live and then listen to our music afterwards. I hope it's worth the wait.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it b,e what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?

CR - The first band that comes to mind is Gojira, I loved their first album "Terra Incognita". We thought hopefully we could play with Gojira one day, and when we started, we got compared to Gojira. We got to play with them a few years ago, and they were all lovely. They are one of the best live bands, so they would crush whatever they pick. I guess I would choose "Hang Them In Your Head" which was our first single off our new album.

TM - Who was the first band you saw live, and can you tell us a story?

CR - The first band that I can remember, was Muse. I went with my dad and I was just getting into rock music. I had the albums on in the car. The concert was in a arena and I remember we sat in some seats on the side. He was explaining how gigs work. Everyone is standing down there and they might jump up and down and that's called a mosh pit, and that blew my mind seeing it for the first time.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

CR - We are very old school and we take our time and work on an album. We also release singles and then we go on tour and play our album. We are doing our best on our social media and Thank You for your patience and supporting us whenever a new album comes out. Hopefully there is something that everyone enjoys. We are only able to do it because everyone buys a ticket or buys a t-shirt, so thank you for the support.
