Carmeria
TM - Hi, This is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with Carmeria, Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
CA - Thank you.
TM - How were your shows with Orpheus Omega?
CA - We are playing a lot of the new songs and we just released the album back in August. This is the first time we played a lot of these songs which is really exciting, we reported our own brand of Tom fullerie and we had a lot of energy.
TM - Do you have a favourite song to play Live?
CA - It is hard to say because a lot of these new songs will become some of my favorite. We have rehearsed a lot of our songs and one of my favorite songs to play at the moment is "A Thousand Einter Rains".
TM - How do you go about getting ready for a tour?

CA - This time it was about Tailoring these set. We have been playing these same set for the past five or six years so factoring the new songs into our setlist was something we had to consider. When you are trying to build a set list you want to make sure there is some flow between the songs, so you have to consider the best order to play these songs.
TM - How did fans respond to your new album Tragédie D'amour?

CA - I think our response was good, we undertook a new direction for this new album. Our first album was symphonic metal and this new album is Goth Rock. It still sounds like us but there was a different approach this time. We were a bit nervous on how vans would respond because it is different to the first album but the response was positive and we have received a lot of cool reviews from all over the world.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for your new album?
CA - We all have our own home Studios and we all wrote songs over the time that "Advenae" was coming out so by the time that we brought out our new album we had 30 demos. We went away for a week in the mountains and cut the demos down to nine or ten songs and it was a cool time to have the week away with the band and work on the pre-production process for the record. I was sitting in the chair for the principal songwriter and producer. For the first album we went for a producer that we were good friends with and this time I felt like I had built up the skills to produce the record myself. I think the main difference between the two albums was this album we had more time to work on it
TM - How did you come up with your Album cover?
CA - The album cover came to me in a dream because I was doing so much songwriting and producing on the record and always working on it. The amount of time I was working made it work into my unconscious mind. I had a dream that I was standing in a ruined cathedral with flowers around. I woke up from it and it felt like the right image for the album art and I spoke to the guys and they liked it. We found an artist on fiverr and in the space of three months we put the album cover together and when we got the album cover we ended up being really happy with it.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?
CA - We have a song called eternity on our first album and it is 12 minutes long and I think hearing Nightwish do it in this style would be really cool or Wintersun do A Thousand Winter Rains.
TM -That would be cool. What was the first band or Artist you saw live?

CA - I saw Parkway Drive and I Killed the Prom Queen at youth centres when I was about 13 or 14. The one I think I remember the most was when I was 19 and saw Motley Crue, it was the first concert I went to as an adult with a bunch of adult mates. I was super into it and I was front row with my mates and having a good time. I got to shake hands with Tommy Lee and Nikki Six spit blood over me. That was a cool time and it pushed itself into my mind as one of my favorite early concerts.

TM - What Inspired you to play music?
CA - I saw Rockstar with Mark Wahlberg when I was 9 and I remember thinking that was what I wanted to do. I saw Miljenko Matijevic from Steelheart and Chris "Izzy" Cole who was Mark Wahlberg's character and as soon as I saw the movie I was struck by getting up on stage and belting out the big notes. When I was growing up I found myself on metal forums and getting into the 80's and 90's metal bands and then I pivoted and got into progressive metal and black metal for a while and through that I found Kamelot. I loved orchestras with metal music and I thought it was a cool band and never thought of that Classical voice in a metal setting. Then I played in a couple of pub rock bands and then I got a call to play in Carmeria and I did a couple of years of classical training and I attribute the drive to do that to a band like kamelot.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
CA - We are grateful for the support we have received over the last few years especially with the new album. We ran a crowdfunding campaign to put together our new album and we managed to raise 85% of our goal and we had huge support and when people are putting their hard earned money towards you in a crisis it makes you realise that your music is reaching people and it is so rewarding so the gratitude that we have with our fans is parallel and it makes what we do that much more enjoyable.
TM - Thank You for this interview today.
CA - Thank You.
