Twinmusix got to speak to Courtney Cox from Burning Witches about their upcoming tour and more.
TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Courtney Cox from Burning Witches. Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
CC - Thank you.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
CC - It is going to be a long flight, but I am ready. We are going to be coming in full force. We are currently on tour in Colombia right now, and the tour has been going great. We are pretty brutal, and it will have everything from all of our albums, including some of our newest songs that were recently released. We are just ready to party down under, and we will have some heavy Hitters and some deep cuts and some newer songs. We have an upcoming album that we cannot talk much about because we don't have a release date.
TM - What's your favourite song to play live?
CC - I like "Black Widow" a lot because that is pure 80 driving metal, but there are too many to choose from, I love them all.
TM - Are there any tourist attractions you want to see while you are here?
CC - I have been to Australia, but all the other girls have a sparkle in their eye, they are excited about holding a koala and trying Vegemite. They are excited to explore Australia and walk around the streets if we have some time off.
TM - You brought out "The Spell of the Skull" How did fans respond?
CC - We brought out "The Spell of the Skull" and "Mirror Mirror" as a maxi single, it is a taste of what is coming. I know it is great because it is my gym soundtrack right now, if you can work out to your own music, you know that you did well. We are excited for it and we can't wait till it comes out. We are powering on with each album, and we keep climbing the ladder, so we are doing what we love to do. We love touring, writing music, and flying.
TM - What was your writing and recording process?
CC - Everyone has an involvement in it. We might be on the road, and someone might say something, and we will be like that is a great title for a song. Then we will start throwing guitar riffs around, and drums are added, and then we get in the studio and lay it down and boom it's done.
TM - You are playing Hellfest and Masters of Rock. What can fans expect?
CC - Weather we are playing to five people or five thousand people, our fans can expect the same energy. The festivals are insane, and it will be our first time playing Hellfest, so we are excited.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?
CC - Probably King Diamond playing "The Spell of the Skull" but I want to play guitar on it because I've always wanted to play for King Diamond.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live as a kid and can you tell us a story?
CC - The first show I saw wasn't metal at all, it was Rod Stewart, and I love Rod Stewart, but I was too young to remember it. I went to so many concerts growing up, and I lived outside Philadelphia, and my stepfather was a main Bouncer at one of the main venues, so I went to a show almost every night, I was so fortunate.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
CC - We cannot wait to be with you all, and I know it's going to be crazy. Thank you for the support, if you need any more info about us, you can check out our social media accounts. I am ready to come to Australia and eat some Vegemite.
TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today, we appreciate it.
CC - Thank You.
