Twinmusix got to speak to Cam and Nick from Born of Osiris.
TM - Hi this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Cameron and Nick from Born Of Osiris. Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
BO - Thank you.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
NK - It is exciting that we are coming to Australia in 2026, it is to celebrate fifteen years of our third album "The Discovery", It has been a fan favourite for a long time. I think alot of people have wanted to see the material peformed live and we are bringing it to the other side of the world. We are going to be playing a bunch of songs from "The Discovery". We are all rehearsing these songs and getting them back up to speed. We are also practising other fan favourites on the setlist, and we are really excited about it.
TM - What is your favourite song to play live?
CAM - I am going to say right now that "Regenerate" is going to be a favourite once I practice it more. It is really hard and one of my favourite songs in our catalogue of music. From a drumming perspective, it is hard, and it is definitely whipping my butt into shape, and it is a non-negotiable to practice drums every day that I am home before the tour.
NK - We just brought back "Follow the Signs" which is really exciting, it is such a fun song to play. I also like playing "Recreate", there is a fun lead in there, and it has a split part. I found some technology to make it work live. It is always fun to make a Discovery like that and there is so much depth to the songs. It is always fun to go back and revisit songs and play them live years later.
TM - You brought out your new album "Through Shadows" In July, how did fans respond?
NK - It was great, "Through Shadows" was a long process for us to work on. A lot of these songs got Revisited a bunch of times with changes and I keep on seeing this quote on the internet that says "Art is never finished, only abandoned," which runs true to this album. We love all the songs and we are very happy with how they turned out. It felt like laying a chapter to rest once it was released and it is exciting to perform them live, and the fans responsed is great.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for "Through Shadows"?
NK - Over the years, I feel that we have taken more control on these songs by ourselves because we have been doing it for so long. We are all producers, and we all record at home. We seem to be happier with the results, and we love working with other people too. We worked with Zach Jones, he mixed the album. We also worked with our friend KJ, and he helped with vocal production and some post production. We had a lot of different phases of these songs and started this album in two thousand twenty-three and finally had the masters by two thousand twenty-five. We redid every song as many times as possible and we tried to make as many improvements as we could. Then we said this is our album, I think it is ready, and we gave it out to the world.
TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for "Through Shadows" and Who designed it?
CAM - The Album title is "Through Shadows" and is taken from the longer lyric from the title track "Through Shadows". The lyrics are "Through shadow, light remains", which is basically saying that through hard times, if you stay resilient, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and there is hope. It signifies hope through dark times. The artist did a "Sumerian comics" design, and if you look at the artwork, he did a phenomenal job. If you look at the artwork, it looks like he has his hood up, and he looks like, he is up to no good. It looks like he is walking through the Shadows. If you look carefully and look up there is a light, and that light remains. It signifies a guy that has undergone tough events, but he stays on path and stays resilient and eventually makes better decisions, and then the light remains. That is part of the story that hasn't been told yet and that's what we are leaving off.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?
CAM - I want to hear Taylor Swift play "Bow Down" at the "Super Bowl". We listened to Taylor Swift a lot on the last tour, so we are inspired right now.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
CAM - Thank You for listening to us this whole time. We are super thrilled to make it back to Australia. We look forward to seeing you in Australia on our 15 year anniversary tour for our album "The Discovery" tour. "Signs of the Swarm" is supporting us.
NK - We can't wait to come back, and we love Australia, and It has been to long. Thank you, everyone for listening and jamming it means the world to us.
TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today. We appreciate it.
NK - Thank You.
CAM - Thank you.
