TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with DIVA from BLOODHUNTER. Thank you for having this interview with us; we appreciate it.
DA - Thank you for having me.
TM - What can fans expect from your new album "Sons Of The Abandoned"?
DA - This album will be a bit of a twist for us. It will be different from what we were doing before. We changed our whole process, from writing the music to doing the video clips. We are happy because we put together a bunch of different songs, and we feel like you can listen to the album from start to finish. There were different influences for this album, from classic heavy metal, progressive metal, groovy and Punk, it is different from what we were doing before. There will be things in there that people will not expect. I think people will love it because it is different from our past albums.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for "Sons Of The Abandoned"?
DA - It has been quite challenging. We had this album finished a few years ago, and the label took a while to put everything together. We recorded the songs in 2024. We normally do everything in our home studio and have the pre-production all set. Then we went into the studio for drums and vocals, and that took about a week. Then we sent the mix to "Tue Madsen", who is an amazing producer that has worked with "Meshuggah and Opeth". We had a goal of working with him one day, and we thought we would try to work with him on this album, and it worked out, and we are happy with that.
TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for "Sons Of The Abandoned"?
DA - We feel like there is a general Vibe around the album, and it is not a conceptual work. We feel like these songs have a common message about being surrounded by a world full of individualism with wrong values. We feel like this has something to do with the music market these days. Everyone tries to stand out in the middle of so many talented and amazing artists, and you have to find something different and unique to make it. It is very difficult, so we feel like we are a lost generation, but in the 80s, they had different struggles, but they only had to care about releasing music and playing live.
These days, you need to know about marketing, social media, and how to make video clips. It is very difficult to do, but there is a strong community in the Metal scene, and you feel you are with people like yourself, you feel secure and like you are part of something, and once you have your community, you will be good. If you feel lost, you can go back and listen to your favourite songs.
TM - How did you come up with your video for "Threshold Of Hell"?
DA - I wrote most of the storyline, but I was working with Winner Horse Productions. They are caring people and treat you like you are one of their own band members. They get involved in all the ideas, and I asked them if my ideas made sense, and they were fantastic.
The song "Threshold Of Hell" is an Anti War song. We wanted to talk about the ongoing situation worldwide, and it is a crazy situation. We don't worry about it, and we see it in the news day by day, and we live with it. We want to have this video talking about how it is wrong, and we don't support violence or war. We think it is a classic metal song that will connect with many audiences, and many metal fans.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would you choose, what song would you choose, and would it be in your style or their style?
DA - "The Devil's Own" which was our first single. Maybe "Amaranthe", I would be curious to see what they did with our song because it is a very diverse song and has a lot of melody, so it would be nice to see a different approach to it.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live, and can you tell us a story?
DA - The first band I saw was a local band with Dani. The first International Festival I saw was a festival in Portugal with Mastodon, Stone Sour, and Metallica. I was eighteen at the time, and it was massive for me to go to a different country to see a festival. I came home thinking wow, I would like to do that someday. The magic that you are surrounded by is awesome, and you are surrounded by people like you.
TM - If you could go back in a time machine, who would you see live?
DA - I would like to go back to the 80'S and see Guns N ' Roses live, because that was the biggest part of their career. I would also like to see Nirvana, as I never got a chance to see them.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
DA - Thank you so much for your support, it has been great. We are going to release a new single, and we are happy about it. We appreciate all the attention and love and appreciate it. Thank you for having me today. It was fantastic to spread the word about the album, and hopefully we'll see you on the road.
