Blessthefall
TM - Hi, this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix, and we are here with Blessthefall. Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
BF - Thank you.
TM - What can fans expect from your Australian tour?
BF - We are so pumped to come back, it is one of our favourite places to play. When we found out we had the opportunity to come back to Australia we were excited to come back. The crowds are so much fun and bring so much energy.
TM - What can fans expect from your setlist?
BF - When we pick out our setlist we looked at the top 10 songs on Spotify that everyone is listening to and we go from there. We try and fit in some deep cuts that our old school fans love. On our last tour we had some fans that were disappointed that we didn't play more songs from our new album and that normally never happens. We normally have fans that are like play the old stuff, so it was nice to have fans who like our new albums.
TM - How have fans responded to your new album "Gallows"?
BF - It was a great response. I think the only negative response was that we didn't have enough songs on the album and we are proud of this record.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for "Gallows"?
BF - We were on a hiatus at the time, so we took our time with the record and only wrote when we felt like it. We would write one song at a time, and before you knew it, we had a record. It was a different approach, but it's let us chill and go at our own pace, and we enjoyed it. We hope that the fans enjoy it.
TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for "Gallows" and who designed it?
BF - Funny story when we started writing again we had taken a couple of years off, and when we started dipping our feet back into the band. Eric sent me a photo of a church he found on Instagram, and he said to me, man it'll be cool to have an album cover like this. I said let me find out where this church is and the church was in Iceland. I did some research and figured out that you had to fly into reykjavik then drive to a small town and take a ferry to a tiny island. I thought flights aren't that expensive, maybe our record label will help us out and throw some money at this. We let them know hey, we want to be a band again and go and do a photo shoot in Iceland. We had this world renowned photographer that said they would come and do the photoshoot if we paid for their flight and that's what we did. We took a flight out there and took the ferry to the church, and it was a really surreal moment.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs, what band would it be, what song would it be and would it be in your style or their style?
BF - "Blink 182" play "Hey Baby, Here’s That Song You Wanted" in their style because they are my favourite band of all time.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live, and can you tell us a story?
BF - "Blink182" was my first concert, and it was in 1997 when they were still pretty small. They played with "Less than Jake", and it was my friend's older brother who took us to the concert. I knew who "Blink 182" was, and their album "Cheshire Cat" was out at the time, and they were starting to get some radio play, and they were only playing clubs. I went to that show on a school nigh,t and it was the first time I ever got in a mosh pit, crowd surfed, and stage dived. I saw everyone doing i,t and I was like I have to do that. I went to school the next day and was daydreaming all day about that concert and how fun it was. It felt like a different world, and I was like man I would love to be in a band and create those types of memories for other people. I still have the concert ticket, and it is fading away in my draw.
TM - I hope you can preserve the ticket.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
BF - Thank you to all the fans that have stuck around and listened to us. I know there are new bands bringing out songs all the time, and we thank you for sticking with us and supporting us. I know they have been waiting for nine or ten years to wait to see us play. We will keep making music as long as you keep listening.
TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
BF - Thank you.
