AVANTASIA REVIEW

The Avantasia project is something else altogether, it is the brain child of Tobias Sammet and his own personal wonderland. Last night Avantasia delivered a night full of power metal infused with Broadway theatrics and hard rock guitar.

We got to see this supergroup perform at the Metro in Sydney last night. Tobias Sammet, Bob Catley, Eric Martin, Geoff Tate, Jorn Lande, Ronnie Atkins, Herbie Langhans, Adrienne Cowan, Sascha Paeth, Olli Hartmann, Miro Rodenberg, Andre Neygenfind, and Felix Bohnke graced our shores 20 years after the release of the original metal opera "Musical Mastermind", and it was a spectacular show.

AVANTASIA

Avantasia delivered the most fantastic arrangements imaginable. The show had killer hooks with a massive lightning display. When you looked down into the mosh pit everyone was singing along to all the songs and it was epic. Tobias also encouraged everyone in the audience to join in.

Everyone got to listen to an amazing three-hour set delivered by Avantasia. They kicked off the night with "Ghost In The Moon" and the metal opera went off with a bang from the word go. We also got to listen to songs including "Book Of Shallows, Lucifer, The Story Ain't Over, Let The Storm Descend Upon Us and Lost In Space".

Avantasia surprised us with a cover of "Maniac" by "Michael Sembello" this song brought a lot of energy into the venue. It was a great cover and brought music to my ears.

Avantasia put on a fantastic show and the production behind the show was great as well. They have had great success over the years, including having previously headlined Wacken Open Air and we were lucky enough to see them in a small venue. If you haven't seen this metal opera yet, I definitely recommend going to see this show.
