ARMORED DAWN.jpg

Twinmusix got to speak to Timo Kaarkoski from Armored Dawn about their upcoming album and more.

TM - Hi, This is Elizabeth and Amelia from Twinmusix. How are you?

TK - I am good, just sitting inside the house like the rest of the world. All we can do is wait for this virus to be over.

TM - I know, it's so boring.

TK - Every day is like Sunday.

TM - You don't realise how much you miss it till it's gone.

TM - You just released your new album Armored Dawn no Estúdio Showlivre (Ao Vivo) how have fans responded?

TK - Really Well, even people who don't listen to heavy metal music seem to like it. We even did some versions of our music in acoustic and it sounds like pop music.

TM - Why did you try and do something different with your music?

TK - A lot of metal bands do stuff with their music, and all their songs sound the same. We wanted to sound different to everyone else.

TM - What was your writing and recording process for your new album Armored Dawn no Estúdio Showlivre (Ao Vivo)?

TK - Eduardo comes up with the lyrics, Andy comes up with the vocals Melodies and the band works around those. Sometimes someone will bring a whole song into the studio and sometimes someone might bring a guitar riff and we work with that. We have our studio so we can record whatever we like. We might have an idea at 3 a.m. and we will all go to the studio and record our album took a year to record.

TM - How did you come up with your Album cover for Armored Dawn no Estúdio Showlivre (Ao Vivo)?

TK - Eduardo came up with the album cover. Ever science he was young, He has been reading stories about Scandinavia and stories of the Vikings. He wanted to have something to do with the Vikings and their symbols.

TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs what band would it be, what song would it be and in your style or their style?

TK - Deep Purple, doing a song from our new album they are an old band but going strong.

TM - What's your favourite memory of watching someone else perform live?

TK - I think the most memorable show I have ever seen was in 1983, I got to see DIO in his very first tour, the Holy Diver tour. I was standing in front of the stage, it was cool I wish I got to tour with them. We also played on the Motorhead cruise before Lemmy died.

TM - That's awesome, did you get to meet Lemmy?

TK - Our friend is the drum tech for Mickey Dee and Mickey Dee was in Motorhead then Scorpions and that's how we got to meet him.

TM - That's cool, I just got to see Scorpions and Whitesnake on their Australian tour. They are always amazing live.

TK - The first time I saw Whitesnake was on the Saints & Sinners tour and they had Jon Lord on Keyboards and Cozy Powell on drums. It was really good. The other band was Ozzy Osborne, which was cool to see.

TK - That is cool, I love Ozzy too. I got to see Ozzy at Rockfest Barcelona, It was awesome. Zakk Wylde also killed it on guitar.

TM - You got to tour with Saxon and Hammerfall, how were those tours?

TK - the Hammerfall and Saxon tour was cool I've been a really big fan of Saxon since forever but I think when we played with Saxon it fit our style of music better

TM - If you could collaborate with any artists who would it be and why?

TK -If it was someone dead I would choose Jon Lord it would be cool to play with the keyboard master. If I choose someone alive I would choose David Coverdale and do some Blues rock and roll song.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

TK - Once this virus is over everyone go to your local bars and see your local bands because people like Ozzy Osbourne and Whitesnake won't be around forever. The new Iron Maiden might be out there in a pub somewhere and if you don't go out see them they will never be discovered. Also, we hope everyone likes our new album.

TM - Thank You for this interview today, we really appreciate it.
