Anvil
Anvil returned to our shores on Friday night after 4 years of not playing in Australia. Anvil are a Canadian heavy metal band from Toronto, Ontario, they formed in 1978. The band consists of Steve "Lips" Kudlow on vocals and guitar, Robb Reiner on drums and Chris Robertson on the bass.
When I got to The Bald Face Stag it was buzzing with fans, the 600 person venue was packed and all the Anvil fans were waiting for the band to come on stage. While waiting the crowd watched support acts Tension Arise, Metreya and Hazmat.
Anvil was about to come on stage and the crowd was chanting their name. Lips was in the crowd playing his guitar and rocking with his fans. Anvil Fans were quick to cheer and loved the interaction. They played all their hits from their albums. When Metal on Metal came on everyone started singing and head banging. Metal on metal was Anvils 2nd studio album which was released in 1982.
Anvil were energetic on the stage, they kept on running around and made the crowd feel like a real part of the gig. Anvil had a story to tell in between each song and they went into a part of their music history when introducing their songs to the crowd.
Anvil has their last show in Perth tomorrow night at the Rosemount Hotel. If you haven’t seen Anvil live I would defiantly recommend going to this event.
We will be waiting for Anvil to hit our shores again and hopefully they return with their 7th studio album ‘Pounding the Pavement’ which is being released on the 19th of January 2018
