AMARANTHE REVIEW

Swedish heavy metal band Amaranthe played for their first time in Australia this week and we got to witness history in the making with their first Sydney show. The band consists of three amazing vocalists Elize Ryd, Nils Molin and Mikael Sehlin. Along with phenomenal guitars and keyboards Olof Mörck, Johan Andreassen on bass and Morten Løwe Sørensen on the drums. Amaranthe brought us their own individual unique fingerprint to each song and we got to listen to an amazing set that combines modern melodic metal, electronic rock and razor-sharp pop and it impacted the audience immediately and it pulled the crowd In.

 

Aurateque is a Nu-Punk band from Sydney that consists of Lauren Coleman on vocals, Matthew Bortolin on guitar, Luke Dennis on guitar, and Tristan Lacey on drums. They opened up for Amaranthe last night. Aurateque Opened the set with 'Paradigm' and the crowd drew closer as the band kicked off their set with powerful vocals and rocking guitars. As they continued with songs including 'Hurricane' and 'Bitch Scnitzel' the guitar lines and thundering drums created a thrilling atmosphere in the venue. Up next were 'Pink Casket' and 'Empty Familiar' with their fast-paced riffs and electric vocals that made the crowd go wild. As they finished their set with 'Renegade' the crowd cheered and put their metal horns up high.

Amaranthe kicked off their set with 'Fearless' and the excitement spread through the room, the catchy rhythms drew you in and everyone was ready for the next tracks. As Amaranthe continued their set with hits including 'Viral', 'Digital World', 'Damnation Flame' and 'Maximize' the death growls, heavy melodic and crashing guitar riffs, guitar solos and keyboard synths showed the diversity of Amaranthe in all their musical elements.

 

As Amaranthe continued with 'Boomerang', 'Strong', '365', 'PvP' and 'Crystalline' guitarist and keyboardist Olof delivered heavy crunchy and Powerful guitar riffs and predominant keyboards and it made you want to headbang. As we watched Morten Løwe Sørensen play drums the beats echoed through the room and the drum beats were a fine line between traditional heavy metal and electronic bass drum beats. Elize Ryd's sing along songs were easy to get stuck in your head and her powerful voice set the tone for the night.
 

Johan Andreassen bass lines were fast and super killer. As Amaranthe continued playing 'Interference', 'The Catalyst', 'Re-Vision', 'Amaranthine', 'The Nexus' and 'Call Out My Name' The crowd was so energetic that the mood was contagious, which was evident from everyone jumping around.

Amaranthe walked off stage and the crowd started chanting one more song. The band walked back on stage and asked if they wanted one more song and the crowd cheered and sang along as they sang 'Archangel', 'That Song' and 'Drop Dead Cynical'.

 

Amaranthe pulled out all the stops tonight. If you're thinking about going to the next shows, you will get a lot of variety from several musicians that deliver modern rock and impressive hooks. Amaranthe has what you're looking for and releases plenty of energy to unleash to the crowd.
