ALESTORM REVIEW
Ahoy! Last night sydney endured a storm not seen since 2015! Amidst the heavy rains and thunder came the glorious sound of Scottish pirate metal band Alestorm!
After waiting on the barrier and drinking rum with the Sydney crew, the lights went out and Alestorm took the stage to the deafening roar from the fans and jumped straight into Keelhauled.
It was an incredible night of music with the incredible talent of Chris Bowes (vocals/keytar), Máté Bodor (guitar), Gareth Murdoch (bass), Peter Alcorn (drums) and Elliot Vernon (keyboards/backing vocals). Not to mention the hilarious and incredible support act of Chris Bowes and his plate of beans and Rumahoy.

The support acts were definitely on par with Alestorm. Up first was Chris Bowes and his plate of beans, which is exactly what it sounds like: Chris Bowes (vocals), Phil Philip (Tuba), Mathew Bell (guitar) and a big plate of Heinz baked beans. It was a mix of metal, techno and breakfast and it was amazing! Following this was pirate metal band Rumahoy, a masked band of pirates sailing under Captain Yarrface (the greatest pirate in all the world). The crew consisted of Bootsman walktheplank (guitar), Cabinboy Treasurequest (bass) and Swashbuckling Pete (drums)
It has been 4 years since Alestorm sailed into Sydney and in that time they released their newest album ‘No Grave But The Sea’ and while they did play many hits off that such as ‘Fucked with an Anchor’ and ‘Mexico’ they didn’t forget to play their classics like ‘Drink’, ‘Captain Morgan’s revenge’ and ‘Nancy the Tavern Wench’.
It was an incredible night of metal, pirates, rum, music, friends and rum! If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Alestorm live, we recommend that you try and catch them on this tour! You won’t be disappointed!! By, Captain Harrison
