Behold the Defiant

WHATS YOUR CRAZIEST FAN STORY?

DAMIEN- we played this show and when I jumped off stage I had three guys that surrounded me in a corner and constantly bombarded me with questions’ just got off stage I just want to relax for a second and it felt like they wanted to suck my dick

KEVIN-we were playing a show in Bendigo a few months ago and we were walking along the street and all of a sudden some random dude that looks like a chick started talking to me and after that I found out he was 15

WHATS YOUR FAVIORET GIG MEMORY?

DAMIEN- tonight was the best show we have played in years we started in 2014 not this line up this is the first show with this line up with our new guitarist going by ghost boy Luke and it’s the best show we have played for a good while

JACK- my first show with this band around July last year. The show its self wasn’t that good because I played like crap because it was my first show but we recorded it and released it as a live ep. And a music video for one of our songs so it was recorded at that gig.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BAND NAME AND LOGO?

TIM- me and our first ever guitarist Dio who plays bass for headless he came up with behold defiant and then I said lets add the and that stuck Kevin our bassist he designed all our shirts and logos he claims he has no idea what he’s doing but the artwork for our EP is amazing.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY BAND PERFORMING YOUR SONG WHICH WOULD IT IS AND WOULD IT BE IN YOUR STYLE OR THERES?

If I could have a band do one of my songs I would it would be any song they like and any cover they want because I think it has to be their own completely as well at the same time tracing it back to the roots to the original artist I’ve done a few covers in my time and you always have to put your own touch of flare on things if you don’t put your own flare on it. It’s like being a carbon copy of something else. In music everything is about originality.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DO YOUR FACE PAINT?

Kevin and I started to do face paint when I first joined the ban I said let’s do face paint. Half of us agreed half of us didn’t so we played for about 8 months without face paint, those who disagreed left and then we said now we are going to face paint.

DO YOUR FANS LIKE THE FACE PAINT?

We have gotten a lot more attention science we started doing the face paint I don’t know why maybe it’s just the paint not the music.

KEVIN – I paint my face, Luke, Tim, jack and Damien do there’s. And sometimes when I’m putting on likes and Tim I do a lion king and say simba.

The first time we went to Adelaide and the first time we wore face paint and went to Adelaide. And wore face paint there was a random dude in the back room and we had no idea who he was he was so excited about the show and thought it was sick. So we did his face paint and put fake blood all over him he was so drunk falling all over the place. He got the second microphone I had no idea what he was doing so we had to get the sound guy to cut the second microphone.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BAND SOUND, IN THE FUTURE WILL YOU KEEP THE SME SOUND OR GO IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION?

KEVIN- We all come from a very diverse background Swith new metal, thrash metal stuff like that so like behemoth but slower. We will keep our sound.

TELL US A RANDOM FACT YOUR FANS DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?

DAMIAN- I have a Kramer portrait on my left thigh my tattooist said he wants to do a portrait of him so I said he could do it on me

KEVIN- I’m of Chinese heritage and I want to get a tattoo on my butt check that says made in china.

HOW DID YOUR BAND FORM AND HOW DID YOU DECIEDE WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC YOU WOULD PLAY?

My old band was broken up for six months and our guitarist was having some down time with his former band so he asked me to start a band and six months later it all came out we wrote three demos before finding a vocalist and the rest of the band then we got a vocalist and Dio recorded bass and guitars got a vocalist he recorded the end is night that’s our most common song that we intend to always play last. Then our first vocalist decided to leave and Damien joined the band and he’s been here science 2015

KEVIN- I reckon with our new line up the puzzle has been completed I recon ghost boy is the final part to our puzzle.

WHO WRITES THE MUSIC IN YOUR BAND?

KEVIN- With our new stuff I write most of it we are doing pre production at the moment. I’ve been taking consideration of everyone’s influences in music style like a compromise but making it our style at the same time.
