ASTRODEATH release new single + video ‘Leviathan Rising’
Leviathan Rising Tour Update Feb / March 2021
With the shackles of lockdown finally broken, electric Sydney 2 piece ASTRODEATH are frothing at the mouth to get on the road and “responsibly” tear the country apart with bigger, better and badder new material than ever before.
First single ‘Leviathan Rising’, from the anticipated follow up full length “ASTRODEATH VOL.2.”, has today been released, seeing the heavy hitters embark on an East Coast tour with support from some of the best Heavy bands Australia has to offer.

Band string slinger Tim Lancken (Yoshi Hausler on drums) says of the upcoming return to the road, “2020 has undoubtedly been a rough year for everyone on planet Earth. In the spirit of total destruction, Astrodeath will shovel 2020 into a shallow grave and march on to annihilate 2021 with Rage and ferocity. Can’t wait to catch up with you all.”
Earlier in the year before CoVid cancellations struck, the band was booked for a string of their biggest shows to date including national tour support shows with Kadavar (GER) and Deville (SWE) on top of festival slots at Mojo Burning Festival (QLD) and Germanium Daze (WA) alongside Nebula and more. This did not stop the band selling out ‘The Vanguard’ in their home town for 4 nights in a row late this year in a move clearly positioning the band as one of the go-to Heavy acts in Sydney.
With the cosmic fury of bands 10 x times their experience, Astrodeath’s hard work has not gone unnoticed, carving them out a solid reputation in a short existence and seeing them support the likes of 1000mods (GRE), Nick Oliveri (QOTSA), Svetlanas (ITA) and more.
Astrodeath will embark on tour in February and March of 2021 in support of new single ‘Leviathan Rising’.

Additional information (quotes from Tim Lancken - singer/guitar):
"Leviathan Rising is the first single from our second offering Vol.2 and tells the story of the primordial, biblical, fire breathing, water beast, Leviathan."
"The album was engineered/produced by our good buddy and Master of Masters and all things audio Nick Franklin. Our first album was recorded mostly at world class, Linear Studios. However this time around with CoVid restrictions in the picture, Nick recorded Yoshi's drums at our practice space dubbed "Shabby Roads", which is essentially a sauna in a concrete box."
Despite not recording to tape or through a Neve console, or having any air conditioning or filtered tap water, we think we pulled a fatter drum sound than on our previous record! We loved recording to tape and the pressure that comes with not being able to heavily edit drum takes, so we approached this record the same way as we did the last. No click tracks, almost no drum edits and a whole lotta wabi sabi. The guitars and vocals were recorded at the super vibey and inspiring "Rolodex sound" In Leichhardt, Sydney."
"The very day after finishing 7 days of tracking we filmed the video for Leviathan Rising, with Hertzfist poductions, which is essentially our mate Mitch Hertz filming us in his spare room (also sauna like on a 40 degree day) in front of a green sheet. It's a tongue in cheek fun Clip that Mitch has whipped up in the matter of days and we love it."
"The new single and Album Is bigger, heavier, more melodic and all round just sicker, while staying true to our style and vibe. If you dug the first Astrodeath record, we reckon you'll love Vol.2..."
