REVIEW - DETROIT STORIES BY ALICE COOPER
By Harrison Bray
Are you ready for this!? The newest masterpiece; Detroit Stories, from the one and only Alice Cooper has hit the shelves, and if this reporter may say so.... Holy Hell it’s AMAZING!
The godfather of shock rock himself has graced the world with a new album that is also said to be a letter to his old hometown of Detroit Michigan. This gospel of sound is packed full of fast upbeat punchy riffs in songs like Shut up and Rock and Go Man Go, as well as that classic Motown Rock ‘n’ Roll sound in $1000 high heeled shoes and Drunk and in Love.
Of course the incredible band is always there to blow your minds and on Alice’s last album Paranormal, he reunited with the original Alice Cooper band, who were only too happy to come back and record on this album! This included Michael Bruce on guitar, Dennis Dunaway on bass, and Neal Smith on drums! Also returning was current Alice Cooper guitarist Tommy Henricksen!
This album had so many amazing people guest feature along side the original band and as an added treat to the tip of the hat to the Motor City, a lot of these musicians are Michigan born and raised performers including; Wayne Kramer on guitar, Paul Randolph on bass, Mike Farner on guitar, and so many more!
Another special mention on this album would be that both Alice’s wife Sheryl and daughter Calico also sang backing vocals for two songs on the album. Not to mention long time music industry legend, musician, producer, and performer Bob Ezrin also had a large hand in the making of this album in both performance and programming on several tracks of this album.
This is Alice’s 21st studio album and it did not disappoint! If you haven’t already, go out and purchase the album and play it on repeat until your neighbours say to turn it down, then crank it and play it louder!!
